Tampering with my new Solar Auxilia list and slowly building up the army. Out of the list below all I'll need is the Malcador and the Flamer Section. Let me know what you think and if there's any improvements you'd suggest.

Lord Marshal - Iron Halo, Artificer Armor, Cyber Familiar, Digital Lasers, Blast Pistol, Paragon Blade

Auxilia Tank Commander

Auxilia Tank Commander

Auxilia Medicae Detachment

Rapier Battery - 2x Quad Mortars

Auxilia Tercio
-Veletaris Storm Section
-Dracosan- Demolisher Cannon, Flare Shield, Armoured Ceramite

Auxilia Tercio
-Lasrifle Section-Blast Chargers
-ADL
-Flamer Section-Sergeant with Hand Flamer
-Dracosan-Twin Linked Lascannon, Flare Shield, Armoured Ceramite

Leman Russ Vanquisher - Lascannon, Armoured Ceramite

Leman Russ Vanquisher - Lascannon, Armoured Ceramite

Malcador Infernus - Chemical Ammunition, Armoured Ceramite

The Plan is, stick the Orderlies with the Lasrifle, Flamer, and Rapier Sections/Batteries. Attach the Lord Marshal with the Flamer Section in the Dracosan. Outflank the Tank Commander Vanquishers and mop up.

So, problem there is you took an ADL in a Tercio with a Dracosan. "So long as no Dedicated Transports are selected for the Auxilia Infantry Tercio..." (p32 CI Red Book) is the stipulation on ADLs, so you got to rework it to be legal.

When you do, consider that you can take an ADL per section in the Tercio, so taking two with some Quad Guns would be a good idea, to give you something to shoot down flyers with.

I like the direction a lot though! Definitely a good start.

I could stick the Flamer Section in with the Veletaris Tercio to fix that then possibly. That would leave the Lasrifle Section in it's own Tercio.

Also, what are your thoughts on Veletaris vs. Flamer Sections?

Incorrect. You would require a Lasrifle Section to take the Flamer section in a Tercio (Support Section, p32).

Veletaris have the range component and higher S shooting. I think they are generally better. Though it is hard not to love the 10d3 you get when someone rolls up on you in a charge if you were able to already lay templates the turn prior too.

I would err towards Veletaris over Flamer though, for sure, if you have to tweak a list too much to fit in the Flamers.

Just my $.02.

Had a side thought.

Would I simply be able to just purchase the ADL as my Fortification choice in a standard FoC, thereby bypassing the rule of not allowing any transports? I wouldn't be taking it as a dedicated transport then.

Yea, you could. No reason not to just take a Tercio for the ADLs though - Lasrifle sections with a Medic aren't bad camping units. And you can bubble wrap stuff with them in case of a Drop Pod army. That is always useful.

My only concern with that was making sure I had a fully legal and playable army as soon as I can. If I wanted to get a Flamer Section in Dracosan, I'd have to do the ADL separate or get a second Lasrifle Section. For right now I'd like to focus on my next purchase after a second squad to be the Malcador for some extra pop, then worry about possibly expanding infantry.

I wouldn't worry about going for Flamer squads unless you are putting them in a Stormlord. I feel like the best unit to load up into a Demo Draco is a Volkite Veletaris squad. Not sure it is worth all the labor to get a Flamer squad into a Draco.
