Hi people ! I currently play (at a casual level) Word Bearers and I wanted to add a little diversity in my army.
As such, I was wondering if I should allie with Daemons (either using Erebus, Kor Phaeron or the DB RoW) or with the Sons of Horus.
Which one would be better on the table and with which units ? I ask this because I'm not really familiar with allies tactics, neither in 40k and 30k.

chaos daemons all the way. You can go full bearded option with bel'lakor and lots of summoning. You can also go with a solid option but a little less beardy with a soul grinder, screamers, daemonettes, and your HQ of choice.

Daemons are a little cheaper dollar wise and very flavorful for a word bearers army.

Definitely Daemons! Take Zardu and go nuts!

Daemons look cool with the WB fluff, and are strong on the table, but have you considered the guys who broke Ultramar and going Word Bearers + World Eaters? It's a fun combo with silly things like a 20-man inductii squad swinging at S: 6 AP: 4 with a billion swings on the charge.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

That could also be an idea. I never thought about World Eaters ! But can WB actually allie with them ?

Yes, provided there isn't a provision against it in the RoW.

If I'm playing a big enough game, I sometimes add an allied detachment of a Lord of Charge, Pink Horrors, and a Tzeentch Daemon Prince. I'm not saying this is an optimized detachment....really it's just the Daemon models that I've happened to acquire over the years.

Monstrous Creatures are something other legions just can't bring as far as I know, so it makes my army feel unique, and it adds alot to the visual look of your army.

I'd think that would be funner than just bringing in more Marine stuff to an army that already consists of Marine stuff.

To each his own, of course.

Any Legion can bring along Castellax, either via RoW or a Praevian.

OK, I just figured that was a Walker as I've never taken a peak at the rules.

I'll maintain that Word Bearers feel a bit unique because they can bring Monstrous Creatures that look like monsters . And I guess it's valid to say they are the only legion that can bring Flying Monstrous Creatures (although I've never seen rules for 1K Sons).

Whatever it takes to keep me thinking that my army is special snowflake, I'm willing to jump through the mental hoops

Cult Militia can take Chaos Demon allies if you use the Tainted Flesh or Cult Horde provenance too
