OK, couple of questions. First of all, for all GK players out there, is there a certain way I should set up my Strike Team and Terminators? Any particular weapons you would recommend so that I could play a wide range of different kill teams? Secondly, do I need both Codex: Grey Knights and Codex: Imperial Agents or just Codex: Grey Knights to play GK?

Thanks in advance!

1. You only need Codex: Grey Knights to play Grey Knights; But i believe Shadow War Armageddon acts as its own rulebook with units allowed? I would look at the Shadow War book (I don't have it) before buying a codex you might not need.

2. Again, speaking from the perspective of the normal game, I wouldn't recommend a strike squad. They're not really discounted, in that you're getting a squad of marines that must come with power swords or more expensive weaponry, storm bolters, and the 'special' weapons are just bad on a non-relentless platform.

I kitted a squad of Grey Knight terminators as follows:

1xDaemon Hammer, Storm bolter
3xHalberd, Storm Bolter
1xPower Sword, Psycannon

Other people do this different. Some prefer dual falchions, others will put the Daemon Hammer on the same model with the psycannon, some user the flamer instead.

Total cost for that squad is 201 points.

For SWA you are gonna need a Strike Squad. I bought a box and modeled them as Interceptors (which is an upgrade) because I wanted to use them in my 40k army, but they counted as Strike. I ended up running a Justicar, a Gunner (Incinerator), and two GKs. Two of my models had Dual Swords because they were cheaper, and one had a Force Sword. This put me just under 1000 points with no room to upgrade.

In melee the GK are tough, as swords are a great way to get a higher modifier or force a reroll. Their basic Stormbolters are okay, but I wasn't able to bring any high STR shooting. The game was fun, but - modifiers will crush your 3+ save.

You wont have to worry about high Str weapons in Shadow War, as it is basically troop level combat

If you are just planning on playing Shadow War with them you will not need any codex, the rules can be found on the Warhammer Community site
