Just joined the forum to ask an asinine question, but I'm sure I'll have plenty more down the road so thought I'd say hello. I dipped my toes into 40k around 20 years ago when I was a wee lad (turning 30 this year). Over the years I've found myself occasionally browsing websites looking at insanely well-painted 40k models and my wife recently caught me doing it (lol), surprisingly she encouraged me to get back into it and went out and bought me a bunch of beginner tools and brushes, though I'm sure she'll come to regret that when I inevitably go overboard with the spending. Noticed Khorne have their own codex these days so I couldn't resist taking them as my first army. Looking forward to getting back into the hobby, learning from you all and hopefully one day being able to post gallery pictures you'll approve of. Thanks!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome!

I think many of us have a similar story of playing as a kid, then getting on with life and coming back to the hobby after college.

If you want to keep spending under control, you can do what I do: don't buy any new miniatures until you paint what you have. My slow pace of painting and limited hobby time automatically limits me to only one box per every 4-8 weeks. Cheers!

Thanks.

Yeah I'll be taking it slow, at least to start with, I don't know anybody else who collects so I'm in no rush to have an army table-top ready. I'm just sacrificing individual Khorne models to the paint Gods to practice techniques at the minute rather than painting in batches. Once I've put together a small army and got reacquainted with the rules I'll see if I can pluck up the courage to go to the local Games Workshop and meet some like-minded folk. From what I remember of my childhood they were always friendly environments.
