Hello there! This is my first post, hope it's in the right place.

I have a question regarding the Stormtalon Gunship:
How do I bloody move this thing following the rules?! I have read the rules over and over and I just don't get how it works.
Its a Flyer/hover (hover=Skimmer?). To be fair its one big mess in the rule book sometimes, and this time a can't seem to figure it out.

How far does it move in the moment fase?
How far does it move in the shooting face?
How does it work at all?

and any suggestions/thoughts about the loadout/play style for this thing?

Thank you!

The Stormtalon is a flyer following all the normal rules in the BRB, with the ability to go in to hover mode, if you choose to hover you treat your Stormtalon as a fast skimmer.

I find with Stormtalon that the Skyhammer missiles are an almost mandatory upgrade as they are so cheap and an improvement over its heavy bolters.
Also a good sneaky tactic is to fly over a vehicle you are targeting so that you end up in its rear armour arc, and use the TL assault cannon on its pivot mount.

Flyers have rather restrictive movement - they can only travel in a straight line, have a minimum distance, and only get a single pivot of up to 90 degrees at the start. As the Stormtalon has Hover, you can choose to switch "flight mode" and move it just like a fast skimmer (up to 12", any direction, as many pivots as you like, etc.). Normal flyer movement gives you the protection of Hard to Hit (snapshots against you except for weapons with Skyfire).

Flyers fire just like regular vehicles, which means it needs to see it's target and (normally) have it in it's front arc. As Macc points out, because the assault cannons are turret mounted you can pull off a few tricks too.

The Typhoon ML is probably a better bet but the Skyhammer isn't too bad.

Skyhammer missiles are the good all rounder, but I also find the Tyohoon Missile Launcher worth it if you have the extra points.
When assembling, if you dont glue the guns in, you can actually swap them in and out with ease.

I usually run a Skyhammer Talon in 1500 pr games, and in bigger games, I run a Raptor Talon Formation of two Talons and a Landspeeder, all with Typhoon Missile Launchers I affectionatly call the Typhoon Wing.

With the inherent strafing run, and hard to hit, they make great harassers.
