The section on the kustom gubbinz seems to suggest that you only unlock them if you take one of the formations listed in the book.

are you able to take a CAD or even an allied detachment in that book and unlock the gubbins, or do you absolutely need to take one of the listed formations?

Aren't Orkimede's Kustom Gubbinz only available to models from a Detachment or Formation from Waaagh! Ghazghkull?

From 'Orkimedes' Kustom Gubbinz' (WAAAGH! Ghazghkull, pg. 52):

Any units from a Detachment or Formation presented in this book that can select Gifts of Gork and Mork can select an item from Orkimedes’ Kustom Gubbinz, presented opposite, at the points costs shown...

You may be looking at the first print of waaaagh ghaz. IIRC, it was as you said, only waaagh ghaz can take ghaz relics. The new one had no such restriction.

That being said, they are mostly kind of 'meh'. Mega force field is nice, if a bit pricey, and the big bosspole is situationally good too.

Actually the wording does seem to limit it as a Combined Arms or Allied detachment is not "... (a) Detachment or Formation presented in this book...".

I don't quite remember but I think the first Waaagh Ghaz lets you just designate a detachment as beign from Waaagh Ghaz, as at the time that was how supplements worked. The new one is the one that requires you to use a formation or detachment from the supplement to get the benefits.

Not quite sure since I'm at work and don't have my codexes with me.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
