Hi people. So I was wondering what were your favorite chaos formations and with which Legion, detachment, allies, etc., you used them.

I don't play CSM, but I am very envious of raptor wing.

Its a shame I can only vote once because GW really hit it outta the park with bringing chaos back. Ive seen so much variety of CSM lately.

I voted war sect, personally. Great formation...

I see you have included kdk but not daemons, any particular reason? Kdk is not csm at all other than they happen to have a couple unit overlaps. But it is definitely not a csm army with its own codex, army specific formations. I just feel if daemons wasn't included than kdk shouldn't be either. Also "war machine" "Lord of slaughter" and "daemon engines" are not formations, they are auxillary choices for the kdk decurion style FoC(blood host), formations you can take as stand alone detachments, auxillary choices require you to run the slaughter cult as well to make up the blood host.

So basically ignoring the kdk options as there are a few reasons they shouldn't have been there. I'm going to go with the cyclopia cabal, honestly it gets outshined by anything the imperial version can do so it doesn't make it into competitive lists but it has one of my favorite powers in the game 'shroud of deciet'

I included the KDK formation because I see a lot of CSM lists with gorepack formations.

The only two I could consider mandatory for all Legions to look at are the Terminator Annihilation Force and Raptor Talon.

Raptor Talon solves the issue of speed when compared to Bikers and leads to good disruption shenanigans. Meanwhile, the TAF only made Termicide better, as being able to run after hitting a target really gets them in close where they want to be.

I like the Chaos Warband a lot for the possible huge amount of objective secured you get with it. Nurgle Bikers with objective secured, yes please!
Also really like Ahrimans Exiled, it is not a very competitive formation, but damn having 7 or so sorcerers on discs is a lot of fun to play with.
