Hello fellow 40k fans ! Lately I've been reading a lot of Horus Heresy novels, which means that 1) I've had a great time 2) I've read a hell of a lot of lore and since I've got a pretty nasty memory I need your help about something. I remember reading about a passage that I can't find anymore and I don't remember things in full detail so you'll have to do with the little I remember but I hope someone will fortunately be able to help me ! So, through some sort of process that I don't remember a bunch of SM (I'm almost sure they were word bearers) go back in time to the moment where the primarchs were scattered by the ruinous powers. So they're walking in the emperors laboratory and they understand that he has knowingly subjected the primarchs to the warp because they recognize the machines that generate a geller field around the pods where the primarchs are. one of these Space Marines decides to break the machine and thus create the vortex that scattered the primarchs. (I think they were there in some sort of spirit form ? and I also remember that they see Horus wandering around since Erebus also led him to this moment while he was being corrupted on the moon of Davin) Some of what I remember may very help be incorrect, anyway if you can help me clear this up and find out where this moment might be it would be great !

PS: I think it happened in the First Heretic to Argel Tal but I haven't been able to find this passage while skimming through the book !

Help me "DAKKA DAKKa" you're my only hope

Hello fellow 40k fans ! I found the extract I was searching for ! It's in the seventeen chapter of The First Heretic !

So, to put everything back in order : The chapter of the Serrated Sun of the Word Bearer Legion is sent into the eye of terror is a fearsome guide : the demon Ingethel. The demon is tasked by the Dark Gods with the enlightenment of this first generation of Chaos Space Marine. The demon begins by showing them the crone worlds of the long lost Eldar empire and explains to them that the Human race has been chosen to succeed where the Eldar failed. Argel Tal, a High Ranking officer of the Word Bearers, commander of the chapter of the Serrated Sun refuses to accept this truth that he declares ugly. He wishes to reject it. However, the lessons the demon Ingethel wishes to teach are not finished. The demon brings the Space Marines to the Emperor's Laboratory in a time long before the great crusade, the primarchs are not yet born and they lay still in their pods. Ingethel explains to the space marines that for now they are not seen, and cannot be, but should they attempt to interact with this vision the emperor would surely destroy them in an instant. Argel Tal wonders how he could interact with a vision form so long ago, to that Ingethel does not give an answer. As they continue their exploration of the laboratory the marines notice the primarchs of the second and eleventh chapter in their pod. They wonder, should they destroy them ? It would prevent their liege lord Lorgar Aurelian Primarch of the Word Bearers a lot of heart ache. It is then that Argel Tal notices the engines that power a geller field and that the dark trickery of the emperor becomes apparent. He knows of the gods Ingethel is speaking of, and he used them to his own ends to create the primarchs and now he wishes to turn on these truths ? To pretend that there is no god ? The imperial truth is a lie, and Argel Tal cannot accept it. Convinced by his brothers and the presence of the demon Ingethel he destroys the Geller Field engine, facilitating the cataclysm that ensues.

Anyways I hope it clarifies things for people like me who didn't remember !
