Subject: What to do with Nuln oil Gloss??

Recently I went to the game store to buy a tall bottle of Nuln oil because I was starting to get low.
After painting a model then putting a wash on it I found that it was very shiny after it had dried..
Then I read the bottle and in bold letters "GLOSS" .. well..!@#$%
Don't plan to return it because I opened it and my fault for not looking closer before purchase.
But what is a good way to use it up when I really don't use or like gloss..
I am looking for color combinations and what you normally use gloss on.. get me to love it..

Kenny Boucher that is running the Next level Painting channels says that GW Gloss Washes are so good that it is like using cheat codes. So I guess they should not be that fundamentally different.

I have some and I kind of like it but at the same time I don't find myself using it often.
It can be used on metallics when you want them to stay shiny rather than dull. I find it flows a bit better than the matte stuff so you can use it in areas where you want to preserve the original colour more, but if you want it to end up matte in the end you then need to apply a matte varnish afterwards.

I love it, I often apply it to a whole model to define the details, cue tip to remove any pooling, then matte varnish after. As skink said, it doesn't really affect the surface colour, so you just get the recesses defined. Experiment with it, but I doubt you will regret having it once you get going with it.

The main thing you'll want to use it for is stuff like oil stains, where you have something that is glossy on the "real" thing you're representing. Normally I use inks (which are naturally glossier than GW's standard washes), with or without a little extra gloss varnish added in, for oil stains but you could probably use a gloss wash for it instead. You're probably not going to use them on large sections of the model, just little details here and there.
If you need to fix the model you used it on you can always just spray it with a layer of matte varnish to kill the shine.

What inks do you use that are on the glossy side? I've tried P3 inks and Vallejo inks but they both come out on the matte side where as the old GW inks come out on the more glossy side. I've been looking for glossy inks for ages because I rely on the glossiness for my Tyranids.

Reaper black and brown inks, don't know about the other colors. They're definitely glossy enough to need a matte varnish layer if you use them for anything that isn't supposed to be shiny, but I usually add a little gloss varnish for the freshest and shiniest oil stains.
