Hi everyone,

I have zero experience in 30k, but I want to play these gorgeous models:

TRIAROS ARMOURED CONVEYER
KRIOS BATTLE TANK
KRIOS VENATOR
KARACNOS ASSAULT TANK
VULTARAX STRATOS-AUTOMATA

Are these units competitive? Is there a way to build a good list around them? (For troop choices, I lean toward Secutarii, but I'm open to suggestions.)

Thank you!

on the MOOOOOONNNNAAAHHHH

from what I understand the vehicles are quite good especially in an ordo reductor list as they become quite difficult to take down and have a relativley low point cost for the armor value, I have mostly played with thallax and thanatars and they work really well against power armored units but not so much against specialist terminators and characters.

Blood Angels : 3500+ points
Imperial Guard 3000+ points
Mechanicum 4000+ points

Mechanicum is 30k is a very potent army with a lot of variation in the things you can do. Those models you mentioned are all good choices for a Mechanicum players collection and can be built to fit into almost any Mechanicum list.

Imho there are 4 archetype lists you can go with, big robot monsters, lots of vehicles, lots of cheap troops (zombies), and mixed. You can focus your army around shooting, or close combat, or a mix of both.

It would be best for you to decide on a theme for your army, and then pick Models to fit around that theme. Also for instance the Triaros is a transport, so thinking about what you want to stick inside is important as well.

The Vultarax are insanely good. If you're going for competitive, take a couple of those - maybe even 2 units of 2 - and all of your anti tank needs are sorted, you have great anti air and they are even good at taking down infantry blobs because of all the S5 blasts they can put out.

If you're trying to get in some casual games in between your competitive ones though, be warned, vultarax are incredibly frustrating to play against and people will quickly want to avoid playing you if you take them. They are that good.

Thank you very much.
I just finished reading all the rules. The only thing I don't understand is which LoW I cannot take. It seems like I can take any LoW from any IA book. Is that correct?

The units I want to play looks good on paper (except maybe the Karacnos, which seems overpriced).
The Tech-tralls looks amazing as a troop choice. Are Thallax units worth it? Looks expensive, but mandatory in a Ordo reductor army, which is good because it makes vehicles scoring. Is that the idea?

In general, what makes a winning list in 30k?

Thallax are mediocre but reductive also makes them better the ignore terrain means you never fail any pesky dangerous terrain tests jet packing around. Outside of reductor they are more mediocre but tech thrills are super strong castellax are strong to but obviously don't score. Scyllax while I love the model are pretty awful as in straight up worse than thallax.

Reductor is probably the most competitive of the mechanicum lists their artillery power is both somehow fluffy but also devestating. The alternate foc slot is also really good because you just get more tanks and tanks score in the enemies deployment so you get back line scoring thallax and vehicles that can't imvolizie themself that want to just rush the enemies deployment with some of the strongest fire power in the hersey.

That's how Lord of wars work in the heresy it's a bit confusing it's any Lord of war without 30k rules. As well as all the mechicum specific ones such as titans ordinatus and any imperial knight (1-2 selections here they also gain blessed autosimulacra).

4x10 tech-thralls (fearless, chainblade) 400
(Or 3x3 Thallax if Ordo Reductor)

1 Vultarax-stratos 175
1 Vultarax-stratos 175

1 Krios Battle Tank 125
1 Krios Battle Tank 125
(Could live without these two though)

1 Krios Venator 150
1 Krios Venator 150

1300 pts for the moment, no HQ yet.

What should I add? aiming at a 1850/2000 list

I would always take the Venator over the basic Krios. The lightning cannon just doesn't impress.

The lightning weaponry is our bog-standard "handles everything(ish)" tool. Not meant to impress; just there to get the job done, whatever that job may be.
Granted, a lone Krios is pretty pants, but 3+ start getting scary with those rending rolls.
