Do you guys ever have a model that you just sit there and gawk at for minutes/hours on end? Like one that you just enjoy looking at and admiring?

I recently bought an old Khorne Champ on Juggernaut and despite it looking silly as hell I just can't stop looking at it. It gives me a sense of nostalgia and coolness that I just can't put into words. And before I knew it half an hour has gone by (and now I'm talking about it on a forum with strangers).

I'm sure this isn't just something I do because I've seen co-workers do the same with video game statuettes and lego toys (they look like they're freaking high on weed or something when they're doing it) so are there any models you guys just like sitting there and admiring? And if so, can you articulate why?

Flies aweful because the elevator got warped in the back of my car but it still looks great, so I hung it above my painting station.

The Caestus. It was a long, long time before I managed to trade for one, and I'm very slowly painting it up after another while. Easily my favorite GW vehicle design, even if it isn't as showy as some.

Krieg! What a hole...

A Greatsword's Count champion that I made, the only extra part is a cape I took for another kit, but even before I've added it, the model looked very good, I just like to keep it around and look at it from time to time.

Vargard Obryon is the model I stare at the most.

I have yet to see a miniature that radiates "don't mess with me" more than this one. His stance, the way you only really get to see his eyes and just the model itself is just awesome.

I do this all he time with all of my models and they're not even well painted.
Sometimes I'll just pick a couple from my collection and admire the thick, sloppy paintjob while I lay in bed. My birth cert may claim I'm thirty, but I'm really just a bigger, hairier six year old.

I have a "restored" and mildly converted Rogue Trader era Land Raider, and I love it. It sits at my work desk.

Honorable mention, the standard "box" dreadnought. It's the model that pulled me into 40k.

Typhus. Still one of the best 40K models. Doesn't have that busy look of newer models, just stands there and when you see him, you know you are already poisoned by the destroyer hive - and actually dead. Therefore he doesn't have to run around swinging his scythe wildly. He can just stand there and watch you die and that's what he does.

For me it's the Lord of Plagues model, I've converted eight of them into Plaguemarines, one as a Herald of Nurgle and I've picked up two more to make into heretek servitors for SW:A, and I'm even considering picking up another to make into a Hive city's town executioner or a corrupt priest

The boxnaught is iconic 40k, I'm sad that FW stopped making the cool Chaos Legion variants.

That model is freaking blessed, too! I can't tell you how many times that guy has survived impossible situations without an invuln save! I've never had a model roll better on RP saves than Obyron. At this point, I'm convinced he's the Silent King in disguise.

It seems we all share similar tastes, since those are models I like to just trip out with at times.

Especialyl the boxnaut. Main reason I dislike the Contemptors is because people have almost completely forgotten about them due to the contemptors.

Then again, I like the old ork dreads and kans too, so I'm probably just a weirdo.

The only dreadnought I've painted so far is the FW-Nurgle one - yeah, it's a beauty. But I have to admit, without all the nurgly stuff on it the design seams kind of outdated, still iconic though. They did a good job in the DoW series to bring these guys to life.
