i could really use some help regarding how im gonna paint my foam. ive painted a couple of small pieces by hand with acrylic paint and a brush and it was torturous, but spray primer will dissolve foam into oblivion. i got some latex spray paint but it just kinda pooled all liquidy on the foam and didn't work very well. i know im gonna have to do the actual painting by hand but thats not that bad, its the priming in black that's killing me.

Get a pump spray bottle and put a mix of PVA glue (Elmers, etc) and water in it. The mix should look milky, but not clog the pump. Coat your foam in the glue (but not runny) and let it dry. Assuming you get adequate coverage, you should be able to primer it at this point. You may want to do a few test pieces first, so you can make adjustments in either your "coverage" of the foam or of the glue/water ratio in the mix.

I've also had luck with house paint bought from Home Depot. It's thicker, so it gets better coverage and doesn't leave uncovered spots all over the place. In fact, I managed to buy a quart sized can a few months back from their pile of 'mistakes' for $1.00 in a near perfect green for hills. But you can also have them mix up any color you want.

When I'm in power, here's how I'm gonna put the country back on its feet. I'm going to put sterilizing agents in the following products: Sunny Delight, Mountain Dew, and Thick-Crust Pizza. Only the 'tardiest of the 'tards like the thick crust. |
