So never having played any IG (AM) units/armies I'd like to use the Steel Legion models (and conversions, possibly from Death Korps) for Shadow Wars Necromunda.

I think Steel Legion (also Death Korps yes?) had different armour than standard IG infantry? Does this matter in SW?

What weapons should I use for regular guys, sergeants and specialists etc? For specialist characters I only like the Commissar and possibly the Scions.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

The differences in IG armor for infantry are ornamental. In game terms you only have two options, flak and carapace. Most guardsmen have flak armor, but you can purchase carapace armor for some models. That's also the armor that scions have.

In terms of weapons they should have all the regular stuff available to them. Lasguns, flamers, grenade launchers, sniper rifles, plasma guns, melta guns....the usual stuff. The special weapon models for Steel Legion are going to be a little tougher to track down since they are not really sold by GW anymore. You'd have to go ebay hunting. Also for Kriegers, their proportions are very different than most 40k models. Their weapons and hands are less "heroic" so if you're buying those models just make sure that you buy the appropriate upgrade packs as well.

The IG player I play Shadow Wars with uses Steel Legion models, it's not too hard to convert some special weapons, and as has been mentioned the cosmetic difference isn't a huge deal: I can believe they have carapace armour on underneath the coats.
