Three Wraithblades and a spirit seer get the charge on a lone grounded flyrant.
Next challenges are thrown out. The eldar didn't mind a challenge bc he thinks everyone still gets the strike after the challenge hits and wounds. The Flyrant want the challenge bc it will save his Flyrants from outside forces wounds.
So we go to the book, sure enough, and challenges are to be uninteruped by other models except for the outside forces rules that states any excess wounds fromafter there are no enemy models left will be allocated to the challenger.
Why add outside forces rule to allocate wounds into the challenge but not let a whole unit gang up on a lone character after a challenge.

Nothing in the challenge rules changes the fact that the Wraithblades are in contact with the Hive Tyrant, so they get to strike when their Initiative step arrives. There are no other enemy models in the combat, so any attacks from the Wraithblades will be allocated to the Hive Tyrant, even though the challenge is still considered to be ongoing (until the end of the phase) even if the Spiritseer is slain.

Our issue at the table was in the first paragraphs of the brb on challenges it makes a statement that says no one outside of the challenge can atk those in the challenge. The outside forces is right after that and states that if unsaved wounds from those not in the challenge exceed the number of models then they can be allocated into the challenge.
So one rule says I cant atk the challengers but the other says that if I overwhelm the challengers forces then I get to place those extra wounds into the challenge.
So what happens per the book with explanation if a challenger has no forces at the beginning of step one of the assault phase.

I'm struggling to find the part you are referencing? I can't find it under "Issuing A Challenge" or "Accepting A Challenge", which are about who is ellegible. "Fighting A Challenge" is all about getting the two models into base contact, "Combatant Slain" is what happens when one dies and "Outside Forces" is what happens when everyone else is dead. "Outside Forces" even implies they can strike due to the use of "(if any)" when referencing other models.
Can you point me to where it is?

Ehh... maybe it was in an older rulebook - did we get challenges in 7th or was it in 6th?

So I went back to the rule book since its a new day and could not find the statement that says no one can attack into the challenge. This really perplexes me because it was a 3 to 1 vote that says they couldn't while we were all reading the rule book. I texted my opponent for him to look for it in case it was in some other section but honestly Im thinking that something was being taken out of context because he knew his flyrant was gonna die if the rest of my unit got to attack.

The "can not attack into a challenge" rule was a 6ed rule. In 7ed all a challenge functionally does is change how you get to allocate wounds (forcing you prioritize models outside the challenge first)

Yep, 6th ed allowed a lone character to be locked away from the units attacks during. A challenge. All the outside forces got to do was give rerolls.
