Hello!
Recently my attention has been caught by the prospect of a nurgle demon army. I was originally thinking about a start collecting set and box if Plaguebearers, but then it occurred to me that I wouldn't be THAT far off from two start collecting sets, which seems like a better option. Is this indeed a solid start, what would be the next step?
How does this concept stack against their Khorne and Tzeentch counterparts in the same capacity?

I appreciate any feedback or suggestions!!

You can't really go wrong with the Start Collecting box, especially since it contains every nurgle model except for the Beast of Nurgle (which isn't all that good anyways) and Great Unclean One. The Tzeentch one is slightly better because Horrors are the new thang now and the Burning Chariot is incredible value for it's cost (which is compounded in a discount set like Start Collecting). However Plaguebearers are still a solid troop choice and Plague Drones are hilariously fast and durable icon bearers (and not too shabby in close combat either).

You can also stretch your Nurgling bases if you have an extra round base and grab some of the nurglings off of the plaguebearer's sprue. You should be able to get a whole nurgling base from every set of 10 plaguebearers. Two boxes is a pretty solid start.

I would probably go for a Soul Grinder afterwards, to bring some decent range power and to have a vehicle with AV13 (harder to crack than the standard 12) and Shrouded. If not, Daemon Princes. Nurgle daemon princes are notoriously hard to put down due to a potential 2+ cover save while jinking (I would use the Morghast models since they're suitably undead looking and have wings standard). A single GUO might help too, but there's rumors of a new plastic set coming out so I would hold off on that, or get the glottkin since that matches the scale of the new GDs better.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Thanks for the suggestions! I really appreciate it! I figured this could be a small force for the time being, I'm preparation for any of the new festering goodness coming out this year. Maybe even use them with any death guard stuff that comes out later.

So maybe a pair of start collecting sets and a daemon prince or GUO.

Thanks again,
