Ok,
last time I played with my DA I got some bitching about spamming grav cannons (4 total!) and getting free transports for fielding a full battle company. I still want to kick ass, but I was thinking that I could half the number of grav cannons I'm fielding. I still lack anti-air and most likely I'll be facing flyers, but they can be ignored. We will be playing games with 1 roll from the eternal war and 1 roll from the maelstorm mission tables to make things more interesting, should grant some kamikaze maneuvers..

I'm trying to make my final DA list until 8th edition. Let's see if I'll take a walk with this also in the LGS, even that it's a bit less competitive. But the main events with this list will involve necrons and chaos. Things which I want to see in this list are Ravenwing assault squadron, interrogator-chaplain, double lion's blade.

Lion's blade + Ravenwing assault squadron (list is displayed the way the different units are attached together)

Company master + artificer armour + storm shield + mace of redemption
Command squad + 4x melta gun + apothecary + chapter banner
Interrogator-chaplain + power fist + auspex
Drop pod

Chaplain + bike + auspex
Ravenwing bike squad + 2x additional biker + 2x grav gun + attack bike with multi-melta

Ravenwing land speeder + multi-melta + assault cannon

Assault squad + 2x flamer + combi-flamer
Drop pod

Assault squad + 2x flamer + combi-flamer
Drop pod

Devastator squad + 3x lascannon

Devastator squad + 3x lascannon

Tactical squad + grav cannon >> rhino

Tactical squad + grav cannon >> rhino

Tactical squad + plasma gun >> rhino

Tactical squad + plasma gun >> rhino

Tactical squad + heavy bolter >> razorback (HB)

Tactical squad + heavy bolter >> razorback (HB)

1850 points.

Open for comments. Easy 20/40 points can be gained by removing combi-flamers from assault squad sergeants and possibly the assault cannon from the land speeder.

Overall I think it is a pretty balanced list that should fare well in most environments.
I have a few comments though. I would lose the extra marines in the devastator squads, as you already have redundancy due to having 3 lascannons.
Also with the ravenwing landspeeder you will end up jinking a lot and to be effective with the multi meltas you are in assault range of the enemy; I find it more useful to go for the missile launcher so that you can stay out of range of enemy fire, or for a high volume output weapon (Assault Cannon/Heavy Bolter) so it does not matter so much that you are jinking.
If you are looking to maximise the ravenwing bike squads (but avoiding grav) you may want to go for 2, 3 man squads with 2 meltas and combi melta instead of the 5 man squad. You can free up points by removing the marines from dev squads and the MM on landspeeders.
Also I think putting your company master and chaplain in with the command squad in the drop pos makes them to vulnerable to interceptor / follow up assault etc. While the company master will be pretty resilient, I don't think he is resilient enough not to be easily dealt with by any serious list or codex.

Hmm,
double multi-melta was there for the maximum "one shot" melta strike, assault cannon might be fun aproach.

Do you guys think that two ablatives are enough for dev squads? I've felt that way with the mentioned redundancy, but could have tried something different.

Behalf of the CM & interrogator-chap & command squad I will pick my target, I will rather go for a secondary or tertiary target more likely than aim for the crown if there's some interceptor or certain death near. Those four melta's can still hurt/pop something and with the grim resolve I'm couting on that the enemy will try to charge my warlord for a glorious blood splattering

Land speeder is still in the sprue so I can easily make the alteration. And I'm planning magnetizing it anyways.

I'm ignoring the melta bike squad comment, I shed tears when I broke my BA grav bikers to get the grav bitz for the DA counterparts (which already had melta glued! Couldn't tear down the whole arm so had to settle for the hand&weapon..)

Updating the list a bit.. with the alterations..

On second thoughts, because you have three drop pods, the command squad will be fine; as you can choose which turn to bring it in and pick and choose location.
I think with the devs it is really down to how you use them. Sitting them in the backfield in ruins in cover means that you wont need additional ablative wounds. I think with drop pods coming down and vehicles rushing up, the other player wont really focus on them much.
Maybe include a techmarine to also improve their cover.

After little discussion with my up coming enemy, grav wasn't the biggest issue, free stuff was. Well why can't I build something competitive without the free stuff. Here's what I'm planning on fielding and started making the finishing touches the army to get it tabletop+ ready.

What do you guys think, still competitive? Devastators and bikes will combat squad, 2 las/ dev and 1 grav/ bikes. Dread is a filler, think still better guard for my dev's than second predator.
