What color, or color mix + thinning agent do you folks use to Airbrush the blue for Ultramarines? Any examples you can share? Trying to use my airbrush for more than priming minis

Have you painted any by hand? If so, what colors did you use?

I use some of the GW Air colors for Dire Avengers, and they have turned out well.

I used Maccrage blue (spelling?) as the base. I like it but I don't like how GW pot paints do in an airbrush at all. I may try the air colors though, that sounds nice - totally forgot they existed.

It depends on what paints are you using. You may have problems running non air GW paints trough airbrush even with the help of Vallejo flow Improver. So either buy GW air or go for Vallejo Air or something else that is out there with their thinners.

Airbrushing is whole new learning curve. You can either try alcohol lacquer paints, or enamel or acrylics.

Personally I have a lot of experience with the GW air paints and with the GW regular pots.

Nothing beats Valejo air paints IMHO. Hands down the best. Straight from bottle to boom, done.

The GW airbrush paints being one of the worst air paints I have ever used. They tip dry far to fast and with the bottle design is TERRIBLE to get into the airbrush.

I use standard GW paints in my airbrush all the time. I use flow improver, and a drop of flow retarder. Works like a charm.

I would recommend never buying the GW air paint. It was a real waste to me.

The only thing I liked about it is that its a perfect match to the standard color. So touch ups are a breeze. But with the regular GW you can thin it and in theory you get more paint per pot that way than buying the air colors.
