Had the choice between an "armored cockpit" and the canopy that looks like some "windows"...

The piece provided with the kit is not clear plastic and the Corvus Blackstar doesn't have a pilot or detailed cockpit, so I realized too late I had to find a color for "darkened windows".( spelling? ).

Painted the kit in a scheme of multiple grays:

Which color would you suggest for this part:

It is surrounded by medium and dark greys , the metallic part is brass with a reddish wash.
And No, i am not going to use the colors from the box art....

Nice work so far, I think blue would look good

Flat black would be simple and look decent, especially if you painted a gloss varnish on the glass afterwards. If you further want the cockpit to be reflecting "night", you could add some small but varying sized white dots as stars.

Green or blue would stand out quite a bit, but could look nice. The dark red/black of the box art wouldn't stand out, but replacing the red part of it with blue or green could look really good too, assuming it's just the colours of the box art you don't like.

Current games: X-Wing, Blood Bowl

An alternative idea might be a medium-dark grey, and then you apply the Blue Gemstone paint over it - it'd tint the whole paint grey but give it a gloss coat as well.

3x Blue

First, Thanks for your replies. Second , since we have blue in every post in some form or shade, I'll give it a try.

How about: "space wolves Grey" followed by "Storm blue" ( yes a bit ancient but I still have some of it around.. ) ? Pics to come soon

My suggestion can be adapted to any of the gemstone colours, or even if you feel like mixing to get a purple. The effect is mostly in the shade of the base paint, and the glossiness of the gemstone paints.

I like to keep the clear plastic clear...and spray from underneath. Then paint the cockpit frame as needed. Gives a smooth, simple, shiny surface.

I'm with you on that one, Elbows.. it gives a nice effect when done smoothly.
