So after a 3rd reread, I can safely say Angel of Bucephalon is my favourite chapter. And it's still one of the most "what the feth did I just read". So, any theories on who the angel was, and what Larkin's episodes really are?

Seems like a lazy explanation for one such as Abnett. Though we might never know if Warmaster is the last Ghost book and he doesn't tell us by then.

There's been several miracles throughout the Gaunts Ghosts novels.
They're fighting a crusade across land holy to the local saint.
And this is 40k.

I view miracles as being equivalent to chaos warp-trickery but instead of evil causing it, it's good.
So really whether it's a miracle or heresy depends entirely on which side of the fence you're sitting on.
