Yes, but at the same time that melta lance is still S9 AP1 heavy 3 so you can get to the squishier bits of some of the tanks and pop them with weight of fire, or for things like Spartans you try to wound them with the gun then finish with the fist. With the pod you should be getting around the flareshields.
