With Shadow war Armageddon coming out, I decided to make a chaos squad based off our old Black Crusade group that consisted of a Night Lord Champion, An Alpha Legion Sorcerer, A Chaotic techpriest, a Rogue Guardsman and a Plague marine who had a mutation that gave him the lower body of a slug. Has anyone modelled anything like this before to give a few pointers or tips or does someone know of a model part that could be used as a substitute?

The old Chaos Spawn had a slug body. You might be able to get hold of one.

I started doing one. I wanted a unit of chosen or possessed all with slug bodies but never finished the 1st one.
Will be following this thread with interest. It may even spur me on to finish what I started!

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Think I found what you were talking about and there was also the old beast of Nurgle models that had a slug body. I think I'm gonna give my (poor) crafting skills a try as I'm loathe to part with £30 just for that one piece...

I'd look into Reaper Bones for something useful - that material is cheap and cuts easily. Surely there is something suitable there.

The charnel Grub or the burrowing horror look like they'd work with a bit of snipping and a bit of heat to reposition the material. I'm gonna order a pair of each of them, one as a practice mould and the other for the actual thing.

*maybe not, The site quotes the material to be metal, so I'm not sure that will come out well...

Ah, that was it, it was the Beast of Nurgle I was thinking of.

Just take a load of slugs from the garden and spray them with 'ardcoat.

Maybe make it out of green stuff?
I think best way to do it is to make a frame out of leftover sprues to get the size right, then add green stuff to 'meat' it up.

Green Stuff was going to be the next venture, although I hadn't thought of beefing it out using leftover sprues. I could use a pair of legs to get the height right then set the sprues around that for the packing. thanks for the inspiration.

A way round the metal could be either making a mould using silicone rubber and casting with resin, though that is still not pliable like the normal bones. Or you could use blue stuff then fill the mould with green stuff or other putties, though this would take quite a large lump of green stuff, and you would need a larger pack of blue stuff probably.

Miliput gives you a lot more putty per dollar. Being water soluble while wet also makes organic shapes a breeze. I like to liberally wet a clayshaper and drag across gently. Great smooth surfaces.
After dry and painted, a coat of Future floor polish or two will give a slick and wet look.
