So, I picked up a couple of these, and I'd like to fill them with something to make the giant brain look like it's floating in some sort of sciency fluid. Does anyone know of a tintable water effect that dries clear without needing to be exposed to air? I have some Realistic Water, but that won't work in this case. Help!

You're probably looking for a clear cast resin in that case (they are an A+B formula that starts to go off as soon as you mix them).
(Realistic water effects is for shallow effects, poured layer by layer. )
They pretty much require pressure casting to get the bubbles out, though (for maximum clarity) but the bubbles can also work for a brain in a box).

probably this
you could try it with like woodland scenic water effects on a smaller scale but to get the best results you might want to get some clear resin with some dye.

Thanks. I found some on Amazon Japan for what I assume is a reasonable price. I'll check out the local model and home stores before I order.
Any ideas for how to tint the resin? Amazon isn't giving me anything...

I have used these myself and ended up using clear silicone as my liquid, I tinted it slightly green which worked but makes the silicone sort of aerated. if you were to use it straight clear I think it would be better, i'd like to have another go at using it as this was a few years ago and my cyro things are relegated in my bitz box.

There are special pigments for epoxy resin. You can also use acrylic paint, but I never tried this and it could well be that the paint won't distribute evenly.
I think Bruce Hirst does what you want for a river bed:

You could try simply tinting the inside of the clear vessel up to a level, and adding a thin sheet of something to represent the top layer of the liquid, rather than actually filling the vessel with stuff.

I have read very good things about envirotex lite, I have not personally used it though. I can tell you that deluxe materials solid water will not do what you want, it starts to fog slightly after a couple of mm thickness designed to appear to be deep water without being deep. This picture might not show quite what I mean, it was done before I got a good camera... https://alamandrablog.files.wordpress.com/2017/03/2017-03-15-12-51-18.jpg?w=996 if you look on the right side where the purple bit is you can see it starts to haze.

Envirotex Lite is what you are looking for. Be sure to follow the directions exactly and mix it thoroughly, but it's fairly straightforward.
Here's an article concerning your project:

Amazing Clear Cast is a 2 part resin with good working time and it cures within a couple of days. You can tint it but I recommend a very small amount. I have used GW washes and Tamiya clear paints to tint.
My last project was non-tinted and you can see how clear it is.
