Is this from the War Zones update? It hadn't occurred to me until just now, but this could very well indicate that Chaos is going to be front and center in the lore in 8th edition. Which would be amazing...and predictable. After all, we know that Death Guard and Thousand Sons are both going to be their own factions. Perhaps Horus Heresy 2.0? Rowboat Girlyman and Nu-marines vs. the Chaos legions? Automatically Appended Next Post: Something of an interesting historical factoid: The Roman Empire eventually got divided into a (Latin speaking) Western Empire and a (Greek speaking) Eastern empire.

Cadia is still there and The Rock is on the far side of Fenris so it's not Fall of Cadia recent.

The dark angels are heretics.
This is a well known fact.

Cadia and fenris are both drawn in a warp rift so it seems to be quite resent.

It even becomes more interesting when you compare it with the traditional map. Are there any Codex SM adhering SM in the new Baal region ?

The best bit is Fenris in the storm, no more Space Wolves. They're all corrupted by glorious chaos.

I did some research and it's your typical bad latin (well and the name of a sith lord in KOTOR 2.. Rak'ghuls in 8th edition confirmed! ) however the word clearly has route in the latin Nhil (from which we get the word Nhilism) meaning nothing, and while it's not often used in that regard, Nihilism CAN actually be used to describe anarchy etc. thus, looking at the map, we see two distinct corridors through, one is noted as being temporary and the other is labeled as a "Gauntlet" (suggesting to me going through it is risky) so, my over all feeling? the IoM has essentially given up on controling those worlds, and has pretty much let them lose. some may still profess loyalty to the IoM (I suspect you're seeing a lot of mini empires popping up, including one achored by the blood angels) but they're on their own. and there is no central authority coming from terra

Also I keep mentioning it every chance I get since these discussions keep popping up everywhere, but the Tau Empire has expanded into a full fledged star empire. They used to be a speck on the map (literally) and now they have an actual zone of control that is at least 10x larger than before. I think they'll be in a makeshift alliance with the Necron to try and stop the warp from getting out of control.

It's not. But they addressed this in the livestream, they just didn't have space on the map. Iron Hands, White Scars and Raven Guard are all alive as are their homeworlds.

I figured it was something along those lines and not them being killed off, just seems odd to leave them off.

I'd say sorta. It looks like there are a few small gaps of clear space and it's not impossible to fly through a warp storm, just more dangerous.

I tried to overlay one over the other and nothing lines up quite right, but the rift runs right through the Ultrima Segmentum and as such, a number of Ultramarine successor chapters have homeworlds that are on the Baal side, including the Sons of Orar, Novamarines, and the Rainbow Warriors.
