I was going to post exactly the same thread. I'm looking for a color scheme for my captains cloaks, I wanted purple, but the color wheel theory suggests that Purple does not go well with Blue.... :( The counter color that I should use is Yellow... and I don't want yellow cloaks.

Personally, I am not much of a fan of that purple cloak. It's not too different from the blue you used, and so it clashes with the blue instead of complimenting it (I'm sure someone more knowledgeable in colour theory could give a more detailed explaination ).

Red cloaks work fine, good all around colour I find. White works well for lighter shades of blue, though I know a lot of people prefer not painting white unless they have to. Yellow cloaks will look too garish, I wouldn't go for that anyway. Just my thoughts there

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Thanks for your reaction. Im also a huge fan of using red for cloaks, but wanted to try something else. Any suggestions maybe?

If you want full blown contrast, Orange can be done as well.

I think it would work better with either a darker or reder purple. Right now it's so close as WarbossDakka said it clashes. A reder purple would have more direct contrast while an almost black purple would have light/dark contrast and let the purple sidestep color theory to some extent. Ideally a dark reddish purple would be best if you want to keep the purple.

White would be nice.

Purple is definitely too close to that shade of blue...doesn't work very well in my opinion.
