So, with the impending arrival of 8th has anyone else put their main army on hold?

I have as I don't want to build squads which could have been given a more optimal loadout. Yes, I hear you cry 'but magnets', not an option as I get very little time for my hobby as is so no fiddling about with them thank you.

Until 8th drops I am going have some fun popping a small Harlequin force together. Probably use them for SW:A as well.

Anyone else taking on similar side projects until 8th?

I've been waiting for 8th to pick up the game again and now that it's coming and looking similar to AoS, I'm having a lot of fun getting around to all those ideas and units I always wanted to paint. I can see where you are coming from though, I play Necrons so squad loadouts aren't much of a worry for me :p

I am currently painting a bunch of stuff that was for my Minotaurs as Death Guard, because I am so pumped for their upcoming release! Including a Fire Raptor Gunship, and a Sicaran.
If Chaos can take Spartan Assault tanks, I might have to re-purpose the Minotaurs for the greater good.

All chaos is on hold... Which is a shame, as I had a few legion specific builds planned, but.. I don't even know if legions will still be a thing.
Never got to run my Hell forged hunting pack.. lolll

Focusing on 30k for now.. relatively stable.

Hmm it's changed what I'm doing. I have a night shroud bomber to build and then my 'Crons are done. I'm collecting ynnari next, built around harlequins, which I'm getting next week. I was going to go all out and get the whole force (DEldar and Eldar) but am going to wait on that stuff until 8th is released. Except maybe some incubi as I love the models

Yep, my main army is Chaos SM so appreciate entirely where you are coming from. Hence why any new legion projects are on hold.

I stopped working on a Death Guard army until I see what happens.

Hopeful the rules will be just as good or better than what we get in Traitor Legions, but patient enough to make sure.

I was painting a HH army TS, so not really.

Everthing else pretty much is tough.

I'm working on terrain because I have a bunch and want to use it.

All of my everything is on hold. No new models, no new assembly. Just working through my painting backlog.

I think right now is the perfect time to work on terrain and get a campaign narrative forged for when 8th drops. aslo finishing up a few Dark Eldar odds and ends, mainly vehicles.

I'm finishing up the models from Black Reach and Dark Vengeance so I'll be able to get to the 8th ed. boxed set before 9th ed. drops.

Also working on some units without a ton of options - like Deathwing Knights.

I'm holding off on my Custodes till I see how many of the FW units are integrated into their 7th ed. rules. (If they get Coronus Carriers in 40K, I'll do the Land Raiders from the Talons box as Deathwing instead.)

They are hardly good, not a spot of pus on them!

Trying to conquer the Grey Mountain. I'm below 40 unpainted models at this point!

I'm kind coming from the opposite side of things. Stopped playing back in 6th and the rumors of 8th have tempted me to come back into it. Now its just trying to decide what I want army I actually want to start between Blood Ravens, Chaos (of some description) or Tau (whose look I've always really enjoyed but didn't like how stationary they became)

Sort of. I have a backlog of things to do putting a temporary hold on buying additional figures

I've got Vigilators and Custodians to build, and I've got Immolators to ready, and some Repentia and Battle Sisters to strip and repaint.

I've also got some Space Wolves to paint up as well, as well as some of them to strip and repaint.

I'm not getting a ton of 40k games in til then, and I'm currently working on some Black Templars for funsies. I saw Adepticon as kind of my sendoff of 7th edition.

I was halfway through painting a High Elf army when Age of Sigmar came out, and that made no difference to my project. Same here. I'll carry on with my Elysian Drop troops and Astra Militarum. My Cadians, Catachans and Praetorians have combinations of heavy and special weapons that haven't been "optimal" since 2nd edition when I built them, so I doubt I'll be changing now.
