So, I have a slowly growing Ork army, but want to run a SM army in 8th. I have always been a lover of assault and CC. I will most likely run a successor custom chapter, but which do you think fits what I am looking for best? I want them to be CC based, and have options to use a lot of terminators. I plan to base them on Void Warfare specialists and Terminators, and like firing lots and lots of rounds, with things like assault cannons and the like. I really like the models for both Black Templars(the upgrade kit looks cool, but if anyone has hands on experience let me know) and the Space Wolves models. I also like Centurions, and who knows the SWs might have access to them in 8th.
I have 200 to drop on models to start, so any recommendations for what you think would be welcomed, but I plan to wait until I have 8th in my hands.

If they're not gonna be vanilla, I think Blood Angels or Dark Angels would be most interesting.

I voted, but then regretted it.
You should an army based on what makes you feel the happiest about it, it is a big investment to go off what a bunch of people with different interests on a forum think.

Who is best with terminators really depends on the rules as they come out in eighth. So I can't say much about that. But currently, I think DA and BA have the best rules for termies. Who knows if this'll remain consistent though.

Spam of Terminators and Meele Terminators? Dark Angels with Deathwing terminators and Deathwing Knights.
But they are not really as CC focused as Black Templar or Space Wolves or Blood Angels. Personally, I'll wait 1-2 months to 8th edition. Not for the rules, but maybe you prefer to buy the New Marines to use as normal marines if you like the bigger look.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Indeed. Dark Angels have the best general rules for Terminators. But for CC focused termies, IMO blood angels have the best. They can deep strike on to the field with ease and low risk, and then assault from deep strike.

Best bet should be to spend that minimal budget on the new 8th box,
and play Chaos using the nuMarines as traitors.
That, or run with nuMarines and trade off those awesome looking death guard for old marines and vehicles, should ave zero trouble doing that...

I'd wait ffor 8th edition to hit, as special chapter abilities may make all the differance. 8th strikes me as a good time to start a second army. I'm pondering starting some space wolves to bro it up with my ultramarines. if they allow allies I'll deploy em together and name my army "strike force buddy cop"

Wait till 8th hits. Don't buy anything until you know what the meta is like.

this is doubly true if you're gonna look at a specialist force. we don't even know if a deathwing or ravenwing army will be legal for instance (keep in mind if any formations or deatchments are rendered obselete GW will be true to it's word that you can still play with whatever, because they have unbound as one of their three ways to play)

Why not white scars? The Hit & Run gives them an edge in assault although they don't lend themselves to assaulty armies stuff might change.
I'd recommend waiting until you see what comes because the numarines look like a thing now so our current assessment of any army could be flipped on its head.
