The Skirmish Box Kickstarter for some beautiful skirmish sized wooden, magnetic bottom miniature cases.

Crafted by the insane Lumberjack Vikings at Dog Might Games, the Skirmish Box is the ultimate mini transport for your next head-to-head battle or campaign encounter. The Skirmish box uses an embedded metal plate that allows your minis with added magnets to stand apart from one another, ensuring safe transport. It also offers a variety of wells to hold cards, tokens, dice, or anything else you need for your game and holds up to 25 minis. Every Skirmish Box is available in a variety of woods and interior designs, just choose the one that works for you. We offer over 30 exterior designs which are sculpted directly into the hardwood lid. Each Box is created from hand selected hardwoods and comes with a Lifetime Guarantee.

I'm going in for a Neverborn design, likely the previewed Flamebirch Ruby material when they announce the 4" deep cases. Looks absolutely beautiful. They're very pricey though for a transport case for just over a dozen miniatures.

Gorgeous cases. They do seem pricey, but fair for what you get.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Had the option to buy these with Folklore: The Affliction. I decided not to buy, my pledge was expensive enough as it was.

They look good, but won't your minis get knocked around and paint chipped easily? I would have liked to see some kind of foam inset with squares like other minis cases, but small enough for just like 10-12 minis

It's magnatied. And they sell the magnets for you minis, but yeah don't move that thing too much.

Love the idea of the card and dice holder areas though.

They just added an update that the pledge manager will let you select either 3" or 4" deep. 3" deep has a 2" bottom and 1" top, 4" has 2" bottom and top. No word though on the price difference. - edit - no price difference at all! You just pick 3" or 4" at the pledge manager.

As said above, there's metal sheet under the felt in the bottom. Just stick a rare earth magnet under the base.

I'm torn on whether to get one with card sections or just a fully open tray. I'll have to decide when they release the dimensions of each section. I'd like to be able to fit two Malifaux crews in it, hopefully with a few extras for a sideboard. Malifaux uses so many cards and tokens though that I've got no problems carrying those separately.

Anyone who's actually magnetized their minis knows this case is worthless. What, you're gonna pull your mini by the head directly counter to the magnetic force? Good luck with that.

Only if you've got hands the size of hams.

It's not a difficult concept to leave enough of a gap where you can reach your fingers in to grab the base. The more you start taking out, the more room there is to reach in.

I mean, it's only 2" deep. I've got super stubby fingers and they're still 3" long. Grab the short miniatures first and the tall miniatures last so you don't have to grab from above.

I think it's a Guild Ball mini. Seenah from the Hunter's Guild

Took me a minute to realize they arent using Malifaux models.

Nicely spotted.

Its definitely a mix of stuff. Picked out the Arena Rex pieces pretty easily. And now that you say it, there's clearly other Guild Ball models in there.

I've used Table War cases for years and they rely on the same magnetized base concept as these boxes. I've never had a problem removing models from Table War trays or having models break.

Actually, a more common occurrence has been for a magnet to pull free of the glue bond on the bottom of a model's plastic base and remain stuck to the tray rather than the model itself coming loose from the base or having parts break off.

These boxes look nice but none of the designs really speak to me. Wish the project luck, though!
