So today is the day that retailers can start selling GW stuff on their websites (with up to a 15% discount displayed). I was expecting there to be a bigger announcement but just managed to catch it on my facebook feed because I follow Miniature Market. Hopefully, this will drive down the prices on eBay since there is now an upper limit to how much you can get before someone can just order it online.

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

Nice to know! I like supporting my FLGS, but I just can't afford it always, especially with a growing family. Even though they do have all products at 5% off MSRP, that 15% would make things a bit easier for large purchases.

I knew this day was coming, but wasn't aware of the actual date. Neat!

Yeah you can see that they are already selling out of certain things, like if you check there start collecting stuff:

About time they reverse that stupidity. I still don't get how it was even enforceable when they said all their images are their property and cannot be put on other websites. Probably just a case of Scare Tactics since nobody wanted to risk it

It does kind of suck that most places were offering at least 20 to 25% discount and now it is capped at 15, but not having to skulk around in the shadows to order it makes up for it I think

Next, the embargo.
Then, the stupid regional pricing.

Hard to believe it's been what, 12 years?

That's a stubborn management.

No, copyright on their own images was totally enforceable. That's what copyright does. That was only a part of the issue, though - they didn't just forbid retailers from using their images, they forbade retailers from selling through online shopping carts, with or without images... a restriction that would be illegal in some parts of the world, but not in the US.

So the issue isn't whether or not the policy was enforceable (it was), but simply whether or not it was pants-on-head stupid.

IIRC they also put it in the terms of service which is a contract between the manufacturer and retailer.

These can include all sorts of things including what price an item is sold at, where and how it is displayed and how it is advertised. It's the source of those ads you see from time to time - 'prices so low we can't say them'.

Violating those can lead to a fine, or just GW refusing to do business with you again.
