Hi all,

Long story short I started a Clan Skryre army recently and wanted to run an absolute ton of acolytes as my battle line units.
However, I refuse to pay £7.20 per model when there is only 3 static sculpts, all in metal.

Since I want around 50 or so, I decided to convert/kitbash my own.

Looking for C&C on them please as I want to make sure they seem acceptable.

There's my 5 rat test unit so far.
The ones that don't have knives/swords drawn will be given sheathed weapons.
Also thinking about adding pouches and small accessories here and there to detail them a bit more and make them less plain.

So, before I start on the next 45, I wanted to hear people's thoughts for improving on them and making sure they are an acceptable stand-up.

Thanks

Nice!!

I like how you're using Stormvermin bodies, makes them look tough!

One thing I might do is add some tubes going from their mask to their backpacks and maybe other places. You can get a GS tool to make this simple and it's really worth it imo, especially if you're going to do a bunch. That way they look cool too and different (you can get different striations etc on each tube/wire). Can also simply use different size wires to do the same. I'd suggest covered ones though, not like bare necessarily. Although, again, you could use something like floral wire as well, which also comes in different guages.

Dunno also if you'd be interested but Dethos on UE did some globadiers from the IoB weapon team minis to provide some variety in his army: http://s6.zetaboards.com/The_UnderEmpire/single/?p=10002743&t=8948126 Definitely worth taking a look at if you want some variety.

Anyway, really liking where you're going with this, can't wait to see more!

Tubing is one thing I was actually meant to add so I'm glad you picked up on that one.
Completely forgot about it. (Press moulding heads is maddening)

While I like the weapon team rats, they are fairly small in comparison.
They are also alot more costly and sadly, monopose.

One thing I will need to do is converting the packs a bit too.
Sadly there's only 3 different sculpts so I'll have to add some variation to them I think.

They look cool, only thing is I don't know what the actual models are supposed to look like. IMO I think whenever someone wants more cc from dakka members a comparison pic will help a lot. But cool kitbash though

None of mine are painted sadly or I'd just show one of mine

Also, was just thinking @Jackal - have you looked at Skitarii backpacks possibly? Like the ones on these guys: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Skitarii-Vanguard

It might give you a few more options, though I think you'd need to maybe add a bit here and there - mostly something round maybe like the reservoir. Or maybe not.

Anyway just a thought!

They loook sick. looks like you made a GS mold for the heads

good stuff

id personally take a heat gun and soften the hands so you can bend them to clutch the globes better

also more bags on the hips. their belts look real empty. those backpacks look spot on for them.
