Hi to all!

This past months I was thinking about the idea of starting a new proyect for 40k, to add to my Dark Angels and Tau. After thinking about it, I have settled in Genestealer Cult. The fact that I had bought a Overwatch Overkill for 80€ that I have recovered after selling the box, materials and the deathwathc team has just put me in the tracks to this proyect!

So I was thinking, not about rules because we can't just know what 8th will bring, but about buying new models... what you'll recommend me? Searching for other Deathwathc Overkill to add the Genestealers to my collection? Maybe some boxes like the one of the cadians, the leman russ and the Genestealer conversion sprue? I'm not very into the Cadian troops bodys, I prefer to go full Miner-neophytes and all of that, but that way is more expensive I think.
My problem with more Deathwathc Overkill is the repetition of monopose units.

Another question. Are the aberrations only found in the box? I don't see them selled separately.

Aberrants are sadly only in the overkill box at the moment.

It's a horde MSU army and you have effectively 4 options: Acolytes, Neophytes, Metamorphs and Purestrain Genestealers so you're effectively looking to field as many of them as you possibly can. At least in 8th the vehicles will probably be better, meaning you can cut down on the number of troop boxes you buy.

On the upside, chances are that this will be the only army capable of effectively fielding a Battalion Detachment and 3 million slots at a reasonable points level.

Purestrain genestealers are by far the easiest/cheapest things to get. They've been around for decades, and have models appearing in at least 3 board games, in addition to 40k. So it's very easy to get a bunch of them second hand.

A couple of DW:O boxes are the cheapest way to get a bunch of mining-gear neophyte/acolyte models. Genestealer cults are a very troop heavy army, so you're going to need a ton of them whatever you do. I don't see that as being likely to change in 8th edition.

Aberrants are indeed currently only found in the DW:O box.

Imateria, thats exactly what I was thinking. The Goliath model is ULTRA cool, and I have always loved Sentinels and Chimeras. If 8th make vehicles better, I think I'll try to run them as a more mixed vehicle-horde army.

And thanks, I will see for another DW:O box or two to bunch my number of models and then some boxes to add more variety!

I just did not his. eBay those Overwatch boxes.
A few tips since they don't come with full equipment options
For icons I glued heads and bits from my other army to toothpicks and then glued it to the hand or back of one guy per unit.
You can make an iconward the same way, take a spare acolyte and just make his icon fancier and bigger.

They also don't come with leaders for the neophytes, so what I did is cut off the arms of one and glue on skitarii pistol and sword arms. So hopefully you have some random unused arm bits from another army. Something to keep in mind.

But with the new detachment BS that just got announced GSC looks screwed.

Another option is just looking for cheap guardsmen to use as neophytes. With one box of Acolytes I was able to make nearly 20 Acolytes/Metamorphs by kitbashing genestealer bodies/bits as well as bodies from several other model lines. I like how they are less uniform making them more cultish.

What I have done, is gotten Overkill, then brought 2 boxes of acolytes and a box of nerophytes, to have the squads equipped correctly

(already had plenty of Genestealers.. but plan to use the Spacehulk ones for this force)

Next on my list is the toss up between getting some Leman Russ or Goliaths... but holding off to what what changes are coming next month (if I am super lucky I can use to bassie I have sitting around doing nothing)
