So with any other model I don't personally have an issue with using a stand in for I.e. custom made Azrael counts as Azrael for my chapter x.

The query I have is around using Primarchs as anything else other than themselves and their chapter.

Say I had a marine army and for the sake of variety I like to mix and match rules etc.

What would be the stance on adding say guilliman to a non ultra army as an alternate primarch?

I don't think I'd be too bothered but I can see why people might be.

Thoughts?

I had a friend use these for drop pods. Was a very enjoyable game.

It all depends on what your opponent thinks, and it's gonna be a rare tournament that allows it.

Well guess you are mainly refering to paint job? Your models, your paint job. Albeit that requires you to head cannon some primarch completely different but shoot.

Ummm...No. Tournaments don't give ratass about following official colour scheme(you can have same models be white scars one tournament and next tournament by same organizer they are black templars and nobody cares. And you can have red marines use white scar rules all day all week) and rulewise you can field him with any space marine force so...EVERY tournament will allow it.

Dude, the question was to "field them as anything other than themselves." Not "can I paint my Guilliman and still field him as Guilliman." Of course you can field him as a pink Guilliman. That goes without saying.

So what would be? Some other model? Custom build characters are plenty. I have seen plenty tournaments with non-official model as SC.

Have you seen tournaments allowing a model to just be used as something else? "Guilliman is a dreadnought" isn't something most tournaments would allow.

The only "alternate Primarch" we have rules for at the moment is Magnus.

I wouldn't object to the Guilliman model filling in for him - particularly if done with a colour scheme or conversions that made it clear something was going on.

(And if you wanted to say "This isn't RG. This is Primarch Prismas of the Rainbow Warriors and he uses RG's rules", of course that's OK.)

if your headcanon can't justify another named Primarch, then just go and say that it's being used to represent your Chapter Master, who just coincidentally is in a suit of extremely modified Artificer Armor/Contemptor Dreadnought that gives him all of Guilliman's abilities.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
