Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

I've seen this in several threads "well the HH is getting retconned..." and a lot of people (like myself) asking "what?".

So can anyone actually tell me what this is about? Is this an actual rumour or is this just scare mongering?

Atia said that the fight between emy and horus is gonna go down differently than what people know about when FW finally get there.

At least that was the last thing I heard about it.

So not the whole series? Just how the fight went down, not exactly the HH being retconned, and chances are it won't actually change the fluff that much. So kind of true kind of scare mongering?

That actually seems quite logical, why would anyone give the slightest gak about the 'last' book if it was just an embroidered version of what's been told in ten different ways already? I thought getting a concrete set of events for that exact scene was a major part of the interest in the series.

Its probably only the fight. or possibly some extra stuff for the aftermath so that they can deep freeze sanguiniouses sexy dead bod right next door to the big E that way they can pull him out once they get his soul back from the warp or some other convoluted mess so they can sell another primarch. (eventually ALL of them coming back (Yay dorn)

not that i have a problem with it. it doesn't really change What happens before the big battle.

It turns out that it has been Sanguinius on the Golden Throne all this time! Now the mystery is where is The Emperor, what's he been up to and why has he let the situation deteriorate as badly as it has? (Of course this is a bunch of nonsense that I just made up.)

1. Ollanius Pious is an immmortal super-man, not a random human just trying to fight the good fight.

2. The Ultramarines were involved in the Heresy at all, instead of not knowing it even happened until it was over, thus leaving their giant, unscathed legion to have the numerical superiority to create the most chapters in the second founding.

3. Vulkan was temporarily dead (because he's also now an immortal more super-man) instead of functional, and not insane during the entire Heresy.

4. Somehow Sanguinius and Johnson ended up on Macragge in the non-heresy involved Ultramar instead of on Terra and in the galactic north respectively.

5. Mortarion is summoning daemons whenever he feels like it to wipe out planets instead of being opposed to such things and his discovery of such leading him attempting to turn on Horus on the way to Terra (which is why his fleet got trapped in the Warp originally)

6. The previous point mentions another retcon as well: daemons. The traitor legions (except Word Bearers) weren't aware Horus sided with Chaos, or even what that was, until the travel to Terra.

7. There's two Alphariuses. Alpharii? What's the plural of Alpharius? Before the retcon, we didn't need to know.

I'll add more as I think of them.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

'Straya... Mate.

They could Retcon Horus' soul from being destroyed forever, and make Sanguinius' death more obscure, that would be a big shake up.

They are going to add to the Emperor's final decrees that a certain package of super-awesome geneseed should be shipped, post-dated by 10,000 years, to Guilliman.

I never knew that original fluff about Mortarion. I always thought it odd that with his background he was on board with the whole chaos thing without a massive push.
Siding with Horus for other reasons and then when realising what that meant, trying to turn on him for the betrayal, then being stuck in the warp with disease and pain driving you insane until you are forced to accept it (not just accept Nurgle's "gift"), would have been a much better story and much more Grimdark. Especially if right before being stuck in the warp, the Death Guard were poised to make a significant blow against Horus.

or an Imperial Fist, or a member of the Custodes, or simply not existing. all of which have been eistablished at one time or another.

which gets to the heart of it, for all people insisting we KNOW the story of that final encounter. there are a lot of things we DON'T know. as the story has always been vague and contridictory.

i really hope they go with pious

just one bad ass normal human.

it really ups the awesome factor for the regular joe instead of cheapening it with some rando marine or custodes.

I think it would be an even stronger story if Pious is kept as a Perpetual who knows that if killed by Horus he will not come back. Sacrificing his soul (which will have a much greater focus for daemons in the warp than a normal soul) and tens of thousands of years of life compared to a normal guardsmen who would be losing, at most, decades of life. That would make his sacrifice as great as, if not more so, than Sanguinius.

for all we know BL is gonna give us basicly all three. right now we know Pius is a perpetual one whom may know the emperor, this could be his "in" he could know the emperor and thus he'll show up on Terra and instantly for reasons no one else knows be granted some special status (to explain why a normal human would be involved in the assault at all) Pious, working along side a squad of Imperial fists and a custodes attempts to intervene in Horus vs the emperor. and Horus annilates thgem so completely even as perptual is utterly annialated. this shows the emperor how greatly horus has fallen, AND how great the stakes personally are, so he redoubles his efforts, and destroys Horus. Dorn sees the thing at a distance, (or perhaps on caemras from after the fight) he doesn't know who Pious was etc, and Pious goes down in history as a bog standard human, and ends up as the "face" of those whom sacrificed themselves at the last moments.

over all I do expect things to be a little differant given the story in the past has been a paragraph in sourcebooks, and they're gonna have to pad it out to fill a novel (or 3)
