Yellin' Yoof on a Scooter

Hey everyone. Been a long time lurker on the forums, and played 40k since the tail end of 4th edition. I've had my Orks for almost ten years now, and I'm finally dedicating time to painting them. Sharing my work helps keep me motivated, so I hope you enjoy these gitz before they get shipped off to stomp some 'oomies.

I was a huge fan of the Bad Moonz klan for a long time, but I really struggled with painting yellow smoothly on a large number of high surface area models. About three weeks ago I finally gave in and sold out. Boss Gratlugg turned in his shiny shoota for some red paint and gasoline, and these are the results of that so far.

First set of ten boyz and a nob:

And now the next ten, including killier weapons from the Mek's workshop like rokkits and big shootas:

These are my first attempts at freehand patterns on pretty much anything. I'm fairly pleased with the results but am open to suggestions for improvement: I kind of think the yellow checks/dags/flames need some kind of highlight to be less flat.

Next up are the other four Ork Nobz from Assault on Black Reach (and I guess Battle for Vedros now?) and a more recent addition, an Ork Painboy.

Got some more attempts at practicing freehand in with this set of five Ork Nobz from Assault on Black Reach.

These guys have been waiting to get some paint on them for quite a few years now! This is also my first attempt at basing, using GW's Stirland Mud and some drybrushing. I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. I am trying to improve my weathering a bit, and a lot of it is probably too fine to come out in these pictures, but particularly I'm aiming to use Typhus Corrosion on my metals in the future.

Next up I'm treating myself and painting up a single character, a Painboy for my army.

Till next time!

Nice work dude. The freehand on the dags is solid. Looking forward to seeing the painboy.
