Hi Guys

I'm currently painting up Horus and I really want him to be a dark metallic sea green colour but I want the green to be just off black and to still look like a shiny polished armor colour, I think I might be trying something out my skill level but i need help on choosing/making these colours, I basically only have access to the citadel range. I have seen plenty of Sons of Horus but they are more green and much lighter than i am looking for, I want a barely visible green. I was thinking of doing a slight blend of a grey into the more obviously highlighted areas and glazing it with the waywatcher green but i have never used a glaze before. So im not sure if this will give the desired effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ub

Perhaps look up some tutorials for Dark Eldar armour, quite often you'll see them done in grey/black with extreme highlights suggesting colour and the same theory could be applied here.

Alternatively, what you're suggesting would work, though I'd possibly look up mixing a wash that's more bluey-green/sea green as Waywatcher is a really strong straight green. But the theory is sound, start from black, highlight up to a light grey, glaze (rather than wash) the whole thing in a dark green to give it a bit of a tint. You might need two or three coats for the glaze to really work.

Giving the armour a thin coat of gloss varnish (Avoiding any other areas) might also aid in that shiny and smooth effect, though it might make photographing the model a bit of a pain.

Thanks guys, yeah thanks I will have a look at some of the dark eldar stuff, I dont take many pics of my stuff so hopefully just having it look sweet in person might work, maybe a little satin in with the gloss varnish.
