Hey

,
I'm Ashenwyte, and I've decided to give this Plog thing a go again, after a few other attempts ended in disaster. I play
AoS and
40k, so there shall be quite a bit of stuff from both games. I do also buy stuff for the hell of it, and there'll be all sorts of assorted historicals and minis of other genres in this plog too. Let's get started, shall we?
This is a
WiP Custodian I'm painting up as a test for what will eventually become an entire host of the Emperor's Talons (and perhaps even the Emperor himself, but that's a project for later.) I've gone for a different look for my Custodes, modifying Amy Snuggs' excellent gold recipe on her Stormcast, which heavily utilises washes and ends up a fantastic weathered look. While most painted Custodes are bright and gleaming knights clad in gold, I chose to make them darker for two reasons. The first of which is that the Horus Heresy is the death of the Great Crusade, and by extension the death of the dream of humanity. It is an age bloody and brutal, where demigod fights demigod he once called brother in a conflict that spans the galaxy, a scale truly mind boggling. Hope died when the virus bombs fell upon Istvaan III, and to reflect that my 30k minis will be far darker in tone that my usual minis.
And the second reason is that I'm far too lazy to layer all of those metallic paints.

Well, enough of my endless rambling. Here is the first
WiP Custodian in Squad Aman-Helios, Varna-Hyksosian.
The mini is darker in real life, but such are the downsides of using phone camera. I do endeavour to get my camera fixed, but it will be a fair while before that so I shall make do with this camera on my phone. (Which is not bad compared to other phone cameras, it is no comparison to a proper camera.)
And here are some Sisters of Silence, basecoated with Retributor Armour. While not showing much, these are proof of an idea I have to unify the Custodes and the Silent Sisters. While I normally dislike Sisters of Silence painted gold, as I feel it removes their sinister aspect, a dark, subdued gold could quite possibly make them look very grim and menacing as soulless humans should be.
Golly gosh I've typed a lot.
Cheers,
Ashenwyte.
