So I'm not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere but I just saw the BA leaks and it got me thinking.
So i did some math. Take from this what you will. I'm trying to figure out gee dubs pointing logic.

Name..........power.........points....... breakdown
Dante..........11...............215............19.5
Sanguinor...9.................170............18.8
Mephy.........8.................145............18.1
Astorath......8.................143............17.8
Corbulo.......5..................94..............18.8
Priest..........4..................69..............17.2

So all close to power x 18ish equals point cost BUT then I did a breakdown of other units.

Death company dread......11.6
Baal predator....................13.4
Furi dread..........................12.2
Sanguinary guard..............8.8
Death company..................9.4

So it looks like Sanguinary guard and death company are way more points efficient when compared to their power level vs point cost to other units in the codex. I wonder how that will work out.

Thoughts?

"Suffering is Faith, Faith is Strength.

Generations have suffered with the same devotion that we can offer but once. Still, our Faith leads us through these dark times like a beacon. It will guide us to triumph over these abominations. Either by breaking them upon us like waves against a limitless, golden peak or by thrusting through them like the spear of the Immortal Emperor Himself." - Cannoness Aoife, Order of the desert rose #Yesallwomen

My thoughts: power level isn't intended as super-accurate, but a quick comparison taht GW doesn't have to put much effort into.

Kinda like power level in DBZ, come to think of it.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Characters have the wargear included in their point costs, so thats why the Power level-Point radio is better with them.

EDIT: I think i have understand this at the inverse

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I wouldn't put too much stock in power level... I imagine most games will still revolve around the pints value

I saw with eyes then young, and this is my testament.

Pints values? is that "you must have this much beer before the game can begin?? I'm down with that

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

If you take the points and /20 you get a clearer Picture.

215/20 = 10.75 round up 11

170/20 = 8.5 rounded up is 9

145/20 = 7.25 rounded down to 7

143/20 = 7.25 rounded down to 7

94/20= 4.7 rounded up to 5

69/20= 3.45 rounded down to 3

So Mephy, Astrorath, and Priest appear to be one shy, except keep in mind that the PL is derived from the unit with "half its upgrades" and with Mephy, Astrorath and Priest being less then about 5 points away from being bumped up a PL that is probably what it is from.

its gona take a lot of pints to get me to play points

well not really honestly i like having both systems. get lazy and dont want to put together everything then power levels it is.

otherwise if they also release an app that has everything so i dont have to over purchase for physical media than i have no problems with points.

Well said! And on that note, I think I'll cap off my afternoon painting with a few pints/points and call it a day
