In the Warp, getting trolled by Tactical_Spam, AKA TZEENTCH INCARNATE

That looks amazing!

I'm overall rather impressed by the design, the only parts that really seem 'off' to me are the kneecaps, the chestplate and the shield. The shield is a bit too angular for my taste, as is the chest piece. I think the shield that comes with the Knight kit would look just as well on this armour as it does on the regular armour plating. I'm not sure how you could improve the chest piece, though....

As for the kneecaps, I think they'd look better if the two panels sticking out on each side were merged into one side-panel.

Hope that helps

Hmm I don't think it looks too bad, I preferred the lucius pattern warhound (that Forgeworld dropped over the mars pattern) and your proposed kit has a lot of similarities with that, so that's a plus with me.

On the top centre of the hull armour; there is a second level with the hatch in it, it just doesn't look right to me you have one step in the armour too many.
That could be cut back, maybe make the whole thing slanted like the lucius pattern reaver that forgeworld made for epic. But that's just me

I'd also make the cod piece less flat, making the narrow bottom section folded backwards at 30 degrees from the tangent, you could add more length to that if you feel it doesn't look right from the front.

I like the rest though. it's a good looking model, can't see the chest plate to comment but you might be trying to do too much with it.

I can't comment on price, when working that out you need to take a lot of things into consideration, 3d printing is one thing but resin casting is another, there are a whole host of things, least of all doing it in house (cheaper, steep learning curve) or outsourcing which will add to the price.

I wouldn't buy one, but that's because I wouldn't buy an Imperial knight, so please feel free to ignore my opinion.

Best of luck!

Personally, not for me. Looks far too much like an older epic Warlord Titan (and I hate...friggin hate "mini me" styling). Also, if I'm honest...it doesn't work with the baroque kind of gothic shaping of the other parts of the models. I also find that a lot of "new" 3D kits get really really lazy and just make straight lines everywhere. That's the feel I get from several parts of this kit - namely the shield, the chest plates, etc.

A Knight isn't really actually that big in terms of the game (or how that would translate into a real machine). The shaping of the new upper deck/shoulders/back make it look like it's 10x bigger. The visual "weight" of the new version seems off to me.

Now, having said that...with the launch of Adeptus Mechanics in the next year or two - meaning plastic Titans/Knights etc. on a smaller scale, I could see this maybe being a cool way to create some cheaper or different Imperator class titans (using the Knight kit + an add-on).

Now, ignoring my opinion - $40 would be completely in-line with other 3rd party manufacturers for resin that big. However, that's depending on the real quality of the resin itself and the amount of detail, stuff you can't make out in the picture (I know it's a 3D printed piece right now). So if it was good, clean, minimal fuss and nicely styled/detailed, I'd say $40-50 would be an appropriate price if you had people who like the aesthetic.

dude that looks awesome! would totally pay for that as a resin kit, Working on a scratchbuilt Lucius pattern warlord so a few of these knights would look great along side him.

Cheers

At this point I feel like I should just encourage you to make the innards of the knight as well and just sell it as your own independent kit. As it stands, the Sword and face still kinda stand out from the blocky-utilitarian look of the rest of the knight, and if you fix those you pretty much have your own model already.

$40 sounds very reasonable. But after import tax and VAT that'll be a pretty penny in the EU.

Why not just print them instead of resin?

Call me interested in a Kit @ 40 if that is what it will come in at! I loved the Lucius class and was sad when I saw it leave Forge World. I want to field the 3 knights I currently own in that armor. If you can come up with a head design that does it justice that would be cool, but I think the Forge World alternate heads for the knight might work as well.

I will keep my eye on this thread.

The first is the cost: this is a pretty hefty model that weighs in at around 72cm^3. To get that printed by shapeways in their highest detail plastic would cost you in the neighborhood of $40-80 (depending on how they handle infill). So getting each one printed has a cost-per-unit already at or above my target retail.

The second is the detail: even at the highest detail shapeways provides you'll still be able to see ridges. It's even worse for consumer printers, and the one I own could never produce a quality that I'd be comfortable selling to somebody. Instead you can have a specialist print a master model at a much higher resolution than is possible from commercial printing services, and you should only have to make that investment once.

I'm just going to drop in here for a second to improve on this info:

A kit like this would set you back a good 100-200 dollars depending on whether you make it as thin as possible and add the mass back in with GS.

The highest level of detail with shapeways is...... acceptable. But the ridges would still be there. Quality might be better with the new high quality acrylic material.

Source: Designed a Land raider compatible kit that would set you back about 400 per kit if printed.

About the model: You've got some good stuff going on in there. Not a big fan of the new shield, I think it might look better without the shield. Beyond that I would maybe change up the bottom edge near the shoulder stubber. It is a bit too flat for me now. For the knee pads I'd do with a simpler design but that's personal preferences.(maybe even leave them off entirely.)

I'd be down to get one of those as well.. that aesthetic is really quite impressive.. putting that on one of my future-knights would go well.. the "white dragon" one would be neat.. do all the big plates in a marble-like painting...

Would prefer to see a more warhound like face and the shield doesnt do it for me. would be cool to see a more void shield like generator some where else since facing doesnt matter anymore.

Awesome. I'd go with a more angular helmet/mask to match the look through.

A quick update: I've decided to go forward with trying to turn this design into a kit. Last week I finished talking with a professional printing company and am having them print me a set of high quality masters. I expect I'll be getting them some time in early July. We'll see how things go from there, but I'm still targeting the $40 price-point.

I would very much be interested in a set and if you were looking for an Australian 'distributor' let me know, I know someone local who could cast them and I have a small store. Could pay you a commission and cut the expensive international shipping.

Looks cool, but I do have a few gripes with the end product. Just my personal opinion.
I would say that the boxy design of the body and legs, while undeniably cool, does not mix well with the with the more rounded parts of the body such as the head and weapons. Also I think that that shield looks a bit too plain. Fortunately there are tons of other face designs out there, so if there are other people that have the same problem as me with the model, this shouldn't be a problem.
