The Eternity Gate

I think my crons came out looking alright for 8th. List is a little bit of everything. Mostly excited about using redeployment shenanigans of the deceiver. With tanks and MCs so deadly now hoping I have enough firepower. Let me know what you think.

I feel the warscythe is wasted on the D/Lord now, considering hes best served buffing the Destroyers, and the Staff of light is still a good weapon in combat. He's also lost his re-rolls of 1 to wound, so not as great a beatstick anymore. Still alright though.

Maybe consider a triarch stalker instead of the anni barge maybe? Anni barge seems to be for big squads of mid to high range toughneses, but not at the top end. In a perfect world youd take all 4, but you cant in a batallion. Could drop the destoryers all together, put a cheap cryptek to buff the warriors, or maybe Szerath to buff all the squads over the game? Give the best infantry weapons in the game a buff

The D lord I feel has real potential as a CC platform still (playtesting needed to be sure). 10" move and T6 with 6 wounds (and the phylactery in this case) means he is a monsterour creature (old terminology) for all intents and purposes. I figure I can try him behind my silver tide wall next to my destroyers then hop forward to either exploit a break in a line or to counter charge.

Triarch stalker does looks tempting with the heavy gauss cannon as it pairs well with the doomsday ark. I could consolidate the lychguard to one unit and drop the barge for it.

The entry says the destroyer lord can replace the staff of light with an item from the melee weapons list. Does it say anywhere he can't take crackling tendrils for free?

Yea, first page of the leak on the cron forum. Can take a hyperphase sword, a warscythe or a voidblade.

I suppose if you are advancing with your Destroyers and can daisy chain his buff it wouldn't be too bad. But you could give him supporting CC units, to really get him going, let him be flanked by wraiths and praets, get everything crashing in early in the game and he will be protected.

He does look like one of our better CC threats, but now anrakyr looks delishious. His Aura is way more potent than the D/Lords.

This edition feels to me like its about HQ auras and certain unit combos/synergies. I feel our CC threats need to be combo'd, and our HQ's supported. He is safer, wont give up slay the warlord (if it works the same still) if hes lying back.

Also, the math on the anni barge puts its damage output at some of the best in the index. And the stalkers buff doesn't synergise at all with the H. Destroyers, wasting its potential as a good buff for the heavy weapons. Because really, while the whole army might benefit from it, its going to be targeting the big stuff with lots of wounds, stuff our basic guns wont be great at anyway, so only heavy platforms will get the most out of it.

This list has inspired me. Later when I get more than screen shots I'd love to look at the elite detachment taking nemesor and obyron with the deciever nightbringer and lots of flayed ones. Use grand deception to move oby and deciever up field then ghostwalk oby first turn and if he can, take the nightbriner along (can someone confirm this is allowed?). Pop up the flayed ones all around opponents deployment a try and trap them first turn. Maybe even pull off some first turn charges.
