Well the leaks seem to show that guard infantry have been significantly buffed. I'm trying to take advantage of the dirt cheap plasma weaponry, taxless conscripts and cheap, guaranteed, buffed orders!

I'll probably have to tone this down a little for tournaments though, 271 models is too many by anyone's standard. Hope something around 1500pts becomes the tournament norm so I can still put as many models on the table as tactics would dictate, as opposed to play time...

There's another recent thread with a huge Guardsmen Brigade, and I really like it. I think it's true to the spirit of the Guard. The ability to take masses of troops in a brigade I think will make for some very characterful Guard armies.

As for C+C on your list, looks great. Lots of bodies, lots of plasma, plenty of Lascannons for stopping tougher opponents.

Connecticut

Do you think Vox Casters would be worth it to give you that extra range? I worry that such a short range on the company commanders will be a big disadvantage.

Possibly. I'm not sure how worth it vox casters are unless you're going with lots of generic infantry squads or veterans. They need a vox in the receiving unit too, and that could get expensive fast. I think while HQs slots aren't tight I'll just use more commanders. It's more models for the enemy to deal with too

Provided the conscripts and HWTs get orders then I'm happy in this list. Anything else is just a bonus.

Looking forward to trying it out. I've just entirely depleted my many years of stored up plasma guns for conversions haha.

This army could work.
Just have movement trays like fantasy and magnetize one model (a strong magnet) to it, so that you can move the whole tray at once.

If I every run infantry heavy that is how I plan to do it.
200 conscripts no problem with magnetized movement trays!!

That is a very good idea. I'm enjoying using magnets at the moment for flexibility and future proofing

I might break the conscripts down to 20 or 25 man squads purely for manoeuvrability purposes...

Looks like a cool army!

One thing I'd be careful about is that most of your army isn't terribly mobile, so you may end up relying on orders to get your troops into positions up-field. Your opponent will likely target your commanders, so you may end up with limited ability to contest objectives late in the game.

You can probably mitigate this with good play, but another option would be platoon commanders. Two are 10pts more than a company commander, but bring 6 wounds instead of 4, and can be split up to get more order coverage (reducing the need for a vox network).

They don't count as HQ, though, so I'm not sure it's worth reorganizing your list to fit them in. Just something to consider if you find you need more survivability in your officer corps.

Haha, I have plenty of them. Lasguns are no problem. I don't have anywhere near enough plasma guns (just finished painting a batch of them so I'm up to 18 plasma gunners). I ordered a bunch of perry miniatures horses that I'm going to combine with eBayed cadians to make rough riders. Not sure where I'll get plasma weapons for them though. Might have to be melta. And I don't have mortar or HB weapons teams yet, but some are in production.

Other things I'm considering in the future:
- a scout sentinel or three to screen the army from deep-strikers and first turn charges.
- Ratlings for the same purpose
- Ministorum priest for +1 attack to the conscript blobs
- Scions with plasma - possibly using their scion command squads for crazy full-plasma squads
