I've been looking through the leaked rules and can't understand why the new DG Lord of Contagion seems to be 20pts more than Mr. T once you add in the points for the Plaguereaper scythe. Either I'm missing something or the leaked points can't surely be right.

They essentially both have the same stats, Typhus has all of the Lords abilities but in addition has +1 S on his Manreaper scythe, has the Destroyer Hive pistol, blight grenades and also buffs nearby Poxwalkers. Not only that but he is also a Psyker with access to the Contagion discipline. He even has Lord of Contagion as a Keyword.

What am I missing here? Why would you ever take the Lord over Typhus if he's worse but more expensive? Can someone enlighten me?

My guess is that it's an oversight because someone forgot to calculate that the LoC does not include a plaguereaper in his points.. I dunno. You're right, though.. It is weird.

Thankfully the guy in the starter set makes a fine "Not-Typhus." Tried him out last night vs. Thousand Sons.

This is probably the best answer. Also the DG supplement may offer more synergy or options to the Lord in the future.
