Subject: Viability/Effectiveness of Primaris only Space Marine Army?

As someone who hopes to enter the hobby with the Primaris side of the starter set, how viable does a Primaris only force appear to be? I know we only have a few unit types to go on, but from what we know how do you think they would stack up against other armies if one only takes Primaris Marines?

Boosting Space Marine Biker

As yet; no transports, no bikes, no terminators. Intercessor's don't have options for special or heavy weapons.
As long as you're not restricting yourself to no vehicles, you could make them work alongside an armoured force. I'd probably want to sneak in an apothecary on a bike though, to keep them going.
Of course, with vehicles being on the pricey side of points...

I was thinking about getting a Redemptor Dreadnought or Two for anti-armor. I'm hoping they pack a punch and aren't too, too many points.

I'd hold off until the SM codex drops. It's almost certain primaris options will expand in that

As somebody coming back to 40K and really excited about this edition and the Primaris Space Marines I have a few ideas floating around. It's a bit tricky at the moment to have a super effective force as we are limited to Infantry models with limited options. Yes we have a flying tank coming but it's not here yet so I'm not going to write about it. This is all based upon memory and the games I have played and watched.
Captain - Nice tanky model with great save, toughness and wounds. Some nice options when in combat but I think most people will be using the Gauntlet over the sword. Ideal because he lets all Marine models re-roll ones to hit when shooting or in combat.
Ancient - Nice secondary Character but no way as tough as the captain but has a great ability of letting killed models have one last chance of glory and can shoot or fight in combat on 4+.
Lieutenant - Another nice secondary Character but no way as tough as the captain but has a great ability of letting nearby marines re-roll to wound rolls.
Intercessors - the Tactical Marines. No access to special weapons and other good options, but enjoy the same stats as normal tactical marines with an additional wound and attack. Also have a very nice gun which has great range and -1AP.
Inceptors - The Jump Pack guys who have two mini Heavy Bolters. I see these basically for mobility as they can drop in from above and rake up a load of hits on soft targets
Hellblasters - the guys with all the Plasma Guns. Very nice Plasma Guns.
So the way I see a typical army from the stuff in the set is as follows...
Captain
Ancient
2 x Intercessors
2 x Hellblasters
I think that's about 1000 points and is a patrol detachment. The idea is basically the Captain and Ancient sit back with the Hellblasters and shoot stuff. This means you can over charge their shots and not worry too much as the Captain allows re-rolls of ones when shooting and the Ancient allows a chance for a killed Hellblaster to shoot even if his gun kills him. You will get more choice and better options by including 'old' marines but just using Primaris is possible and should be viable.

Like I've said in other threads, I'd wait for the codex before splurging, as, guaranteed, there will be more options coming for the primaris.

Played to games so far. will note that generally mooks do nothing they are not meant to do. (kill infantry)
Adeptus restartes has no real access to heavy weapons outside of plasma and the grav tank.
i think the grav tanks 3 lascannons might be enough anti tank/ long range poke to give you some options.
