Hi folks,

Looking for some advice on finishing up figures, from the many masters of dakka.

Up till now I've been using testors dull cote. Dull coat does a great job of dealing with the glare from varnishes etc used during painting. I have noticed though that it does tend to blur some of the finer details. This isn't a problem for tabletop, but for characters etc it can be disappointing to lose details.

I was wondering, what does everyone use to finish their models before photos? Does anyone knows way to get rid of glossiness without losing detail?

I use a matte spray and just sort of accept that a tiny bit of shinynes is an acceptable price to pay for protecting my 8 hour paintjob.

Seems reasonable to me! If you don't mind me asking, which spray do you use?

I use Testors clear coat. It dries perfectly clear and doesn't affect the coloration or finish of the model at all. I love Army Painter stuff but their matte varnish nearly ruined a few of my models with frosting, and the ones that didn't frost are clearly different from before they were varnished.

A matte spray from a german company called Marabu. I don't know if it's any good compared to whatever you guys are using, but it's the only one avaliable to me.
