About a week and a half ago I received the first models I had ever ordered from Forge World, the Mechanicum Thallax Cohort and I noticed that some of the legs were damaged, they had broken off the sprue damaging a small part of the leg frame but other wise they were still usable. I sent an email explaining the problem and I got a reply saying that they were going to send me a replacement. OK cool.
Last Friday I got the second batch of models I ordered from them the Mechanicum Shock Assault Force and I noticed that the Thallax's also had a damaged leg and in the Ursarax clamshell a lot of pieces, claws and fingers, had come off the sprues. Annoying but none of them were damaged beyond the point were a quick filing can't solve but a piece was missing so I sent another email to explain and as writing this I have yet to hear back from them, it was over the weekend.
Today I received the replacement to the first Thallax I ordered and not only was one leg damaged like before but one leg was damaged even worst in that it was split into halves. I have sent another email to Forge World.
My question to anyone that has ordered stuff from Forge World before is if this is a regular occurrence and if I should just expect this in the future if I order other stuff from them?

Man, I don't know what's up with Forgeworld lately. They've screwed up my past 3 orders also.

Missing parts from the first order.

The second order was missing half of the units that I ordered, and when they sent the replacement for them part of the sprue for the Fellblade was missing.

I'm actually about to email them again right now for the missing bit.

I don't know if their shipping centre is under new management or what, but service has been lacking.

I haven't ordered from FW, but some of the GW products I've bought recently have had missing sprues in them. Curiously they mentioned in their email that they will be informing their manufacturing and packaging department of the issue. I've had missing piece before but they never actually said they'd inform any departments, so it's my guess that this has become a bigger issue than before.

maybe the whole hullabaloo over 8th edition is screwing over their production line?

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

More likely they changed manufacturers to reduce costs and got what they paid for.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Pretty amazing how Forgeworld can get away with producing such incredibly expensive models with such incredibly poor quality

My guess would be that Forge World is getting increasingly popular and that the production and shipping side is not coping with the increased load as well. FW has always been at the niche end of a niche market. Couple this with the fact that they do not use the mass production methods that you get with plastic kits, and the difficulty of casting and maintaining quality with resin, and you can see where problems arise.

This is probably going to get worse with 8th too, as for the first time they are going to have all of their rules consolidated into a very cheap (comparatively) set of indices. I really hope that they can step up their game.

GW should convert some of those kits to plastic already and relieve some of FW's pressure.

They could do that themself too. They´ve gotten some of the machines for plastic.

I ordered a bunch of Forge World stuff back in 4th or 5th edition, quality back then wasn't the best. Got a bunch of poorly cast stuff, and quickly sold it off. I don't ever see myself buying from them unless it's Nurgle things... a couple miscast Nurgle models really isn't a big deal haha.

I've bought a few models from Forgeworld & overall have had a mostly positive experience. I did have an order that arrived extremely beat up & wasn't packaged properly. I contacted FW customer service & they sent out replacement models. The new ones arrived in good condition.

I've had issues in the past, but some of the sculpts are too nice and I find myself crawling back...

I've not had positive experiences with forge world. Any of their hybrid kits (part plastic, part resin) are horrible to work with. There's so much work to be done to the models just to get the stupid things put together. The newer GW big kits are a dream to put together (I'm looking at you, Riptide) but the FW Y'Vahra was such a pain and I never got the jetpack together properly. The extra $40 spent on the FW riptide vs the plastic one just feels like a waste.

This is not to knock the customer service of GW and FW. That is top notch.

I have never had any problems beyond working with their resin itself. On something up the size of a Dreadnought, it has worked fine for me, but anything bigger than that? Yuck.

Biggest thing that gets me is that pieces don't fit together. I mean, sure, you can bend them back into place a bit with hot water, but that only goes so far. And really, with GW making such quality plastic kits nowadays, why should I have to fight a model to get it assembled? My Sicarin tank wobbles on a flat surface, and the pieces bent back to their warped shape after assembling the darn thing.

Maybe it's because I am in the USA and the humidity messed with the model on shipping? I dunno. I'm just hesitant to ever get anything from Forge World again that is larger than a Dreadnought.

Nope, in the grim dark cold of the frozen European North, the same problems are true.

I've ordered two models from FW (separately) and both were fine. I did however break a piece while drilling it to place a magnet and they replaced the part for free. I've had nothing but positive interactions with FW.

Yeah I'm state side and have ordered around 3000 USD worth of FW products and have never had any problems with them. Well accept for having to clean up excessive resin on the models.
