Subject: [50 Power] - Black Templar - First 8th Edition Game (Unknown Opponent)

Hello, dakkadakka. I am going to attempt my very first game of 8th Edition this Saturday and we're using Power / Match play instead of points until we figure everything out. I do not know who I will be playing but there is a pretty wide variety of armies at the store.
Scout Detachment
HQ
The Emperor's Champion - 6 Power
Troops
Crusader Squad - 12 Power
- Sword Brother
Power Sword / Plasma Pistol
- Initiates x9
1 Power Fist / Bolt Pistol
8 Chainsword / Bolt Pistol
- Neophytes x5
5 Combat Knives
Elite
Venerable Dreadnought - 8 Power
- Twin Autocannon / Twin Autocannon
Heavy Support
Land Raider Crusader - 17 Power
Thunderfire Cannon - 7 Power
I'm pretty sure this list falls into everything being correct with the detachment and power levels. I had 8 power left and no clue where to put it except for the Dreadnought. Without a personal transport I figured making him into a gun platform would be best. I haven't played in several years so I am really glad to try 8th with the Templar. Any tips would be awesome and greatly appreciated! <3

Looks good; I'm still getting used to seeing lists quantified as anything but points

So far everyone has told me to start with power over points but it seems no one is going that route on this site lol
I got on this morning and saw I screwed up the power score of the units so I attempted to remember what their power points were .

Yeah, I'll have to see what the consensus is on list building at my FLGS.

Let us know about the land raider. Not many battle reports are using them at the moment so I'm curious. I'm building a deathwing list and I can't get a good grasp on them. The Land raider might really work this edition.

I just watched Geeks Wargaming bring a normal LR with his SW and it performed quite well.
