So, what's the best sterngaurd loadout(s) for 8th ed? In addition, right now I've mostly melta and grav in my lists/collection and no plasma, should I change this in the next edition?

Personally, I'm a fan of just taking the special issue boltguns.

This is just my opinion but based on combis taking away your 30", -2AP bolter shots I want to say it depends.

In an MSU squad I would want to keep their base weapons, but at 10 models I would either take half combis and half Special Issue Bolters and then combat squad as needed, or go full combis.

As for the combi weapons I would say it dependson what you expect to face.

Grav looks good against MEQ, vehicles and a fair number of Monstrous Creatures.

Plasma looks good against some vehicles, and TEQs (or really anything that has high toughness).

Melta is great against vehicles and models with lots of wounds, but won't make wounds as reliably as it used to.

Storm Bolters look good for horde thinning as at 12 5 models put out 10 shots, and 10 models put out 20, allowing you to potentially affect much larger units more easilly.
