WARSTAGES

As we're putting the last finishing touches to the Scenery Project, we're getting very close to its Kickstarter launch. Here is a first teaser image. We will show you more in the next few days. As always, your questions and comments are welcome! Get ready for some epic WarStages!

I'm...cautiously interested.

These guys seemingly never met a schedule they could keep, even with super-duper double-secret innovative workflow formulas.

Still, if it is awesome - and epic - looking scenery, and if the price is right, it might be worth a gamble.

And a long wait!

I think that RH has the most beautiful miniatures on the market at the moment, but I will never back any of their Kickstarters again. I got burnt... badly... twice!

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Alpharius - requesting mod permission to dig out the lip-lick and pretentious Frenchman gifs.

Seriously though this could be interesting or a hard pass, with RH who knows. The fact is we don't need yet another laser-cut MDF range and resin terrain is hideously expensive. Alternative, ideally cheaper plastic gothic terrain OTOH would be a big winner, and there's evidently a market for good quality cardstock terrain sets even if I'm not part of it personally.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

It might be a *bit* too early for that right now, but yes, please do keep it at the ready, to deploy at a moment's notice, when needed.

And we'll all know when it is needed!

Agreed!

Once unveiled, most of us will know whether or not we want to roll the dice this time around...

The KS 2 wait was less than KS 1 (even including the stuff that's not quite done) so that is improving, and besides I never back KS projects 'needing' them to fulfil in anything like the projected time (tho it's nice if they do)

but I don't think the spincast resin they're using for the minis is suitable for terrain

not because I have issues with it in itself now that they've rolled back on the release agent used in the early KS2 wave (I know some folk don't like it but as long as you can get paint/glue to stick I don't have a problem with it)

however I have had some of the scenic elements made from basically the same stuff Impact! Miniatues including the very recent Gazebo from the Knights of the Dinner Table KS and that had enough warping of flat panels that it took a fair amount of greenstuff work to make it go together (hot water/hair dryer bending helps but isn't totally effective

not an issue for a single item which wasn't expensive and easy enough to disguise the greenstuff work on (and I love the final result),

a major issue if you've got a mountain of stuff to build with a lot more detail on it like the image in the OP

so i'd only be interested in HIPs plastic, not spincast resin (and not MDF etc)

I got everything I ordered from the 1st kickstarter, I don't think I've ever heard of someone not getting their stuff.

Now I'm just waiting for the last few minis to be cast for the current kickstarter, I've already sent me some of the stuff from it.

So really curious as to how you got burnt?

Still waiting on that digital artbook.

I foresee another long and drawn out fulfilment period with lots of setbacks, workflow issues and redesign upon redesign with long periods of radio silence.

And of course..

One of their recent updates mentioned how they had looked at different materials for the terrain.

As much as we wanted to go for resin at first, it quickly became obvious that the end product would be way too expensive in the end, even if we had great quotes. We also didn't want to keep you waiting too long for your scenery once the campaign would be over. We want to be able to deliver quickly.
So after many considerations, we went in a different direction. But instead of telling you, we prefer to show you the end result.

So, not much info other than it not being resin.

I'm still waiting on my last batch from KS2, so I may back for $1 for PM access and mostly watch from the sidelines. I still need to QA the models from both KS, since it's been such a long and drawn-out process I just haven't been able to make myself go through it all. I'm pretty much over KS outside of really small campaigns like the RPE dwarves or the KISS boardgame campaigns like Conan and Zombicide.

As long as the campaign is ....delicious. It'll all be good.

The teaser image soaks my curiosity - will certainly give this a look.

Getting attached to a KS time line is like getting attached to a mayfly - you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

I backed their first KS and received my stuff, so I have no complaints.

I'm curious but I'll probably pass. RH isn't really a low cost product, and if I want expensive sci-fi gothic terrain, Games Workshop already has a fairly extensive line. I'm absolutely going to look, but I'll probably me keeping my money.

I think a better question would be "will this terrain be practical?"

As for the materials used, card stock.

I do wish they would finish one KS before moving onto the next but I suppose they need the cross over to keep their teams busy/ employed.

Cardstock terrain - not interested.

Mdf terrain - depends on what it's like, if I can't make it myself then Interested, otherwise no.

MDF sub structure with resin detail - very interested

HIPs - interested but no way is it going to happen with this KS

If any of it's resin I certainly hope they've managed to clear up their molding issues. I don't have a set of sprues from the last one that doesn't have some section of the sprue simply not there because of a lack of resin. Never an actual part, but have you ever tried to find a single damned foot that feel off because all but one of it's supports weren't there from the lot of the crap that builds up from cleaning 40+ sprues in a night? I've got at least one 'sprue' that's just the parts that should have been on one before it disintegrated. It just doesn't fill me with hope they can actually cast a full size piece of terrain.

Cardstock, huh? If it looks good, and is priced good, could be good. I could always use nice big centerpiece terrain models.

32mm or 54mm, those are the ranges they are selling and making their own rules for.

54mm terrain seems to be something not many wargamers are looking for, so that won't make much sense.

So, 54mm terrain it is then!
