Hey, after trying to search the webs I cant seem to find any info about Cypher and the Fallens new rules. How do they look? Is chances high that they may become their own faction?

Edit: Also what index are they in? Cause it seemed they were both imperium and chaos at the end of 7th.

They can't use rhinos or transports of any kind because they only have imperium, chaos, and fallen key words

They are in the Chaos index, but as Boogles pointed out, can still slot into an imperium or chaos army.

They are priced between standard Chaos Marines and Chosen, but cannot take transports and no longer have no way to infiltrate. Weapon options are pretty similar, but they can now take up to 4 combis.

Their new special abilities are rerolling hit rolls of 1 when shooting or overwatching if they didn't move that turn and then never lose more than a single model to failed morale test.

Cypher has a solid state line, can fire his pistols even if he has fallen back in the same turn and when he dies, is only considered slain on a D6 roll of 1. He also has a 6" aura that allows Fallen to reroll hit rolls of 1.

Cheers!

From what I have seen so far they are okay units to take if you want to fluff-wise, but there are generally better choices.

Hopefully we'll get them for real in a codex soon and there will be more of a reason to take them.

They suck now. Lost infiltrate and no access to dedicated transport. Its honestly better to take regular chosen.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Can we post the rules still or have we gotten to the point where we are not allowed to post 40k rules again?

Thanks for the info folks! Shame they sound pretty lackluster now :/

Maybe I will wait to start a fallen project army, see if GW maybe makes them their own faction.

I'm still building mine. Worst case - play them as Alpha Legion (disguised as Fallen to seed more confusion), especially if we get chapter tactics and AL get some form of infiltrate back. Though that does mean you'd lose out on Cypher's aura.

Cheers!

They may not have a transport but they have this over chosen:

They can re-roll 1's to shooting hits if they didn't move
They can only ever loose one model from failed LD tests

So you could rock 6 with 5 plasma guns and the champ with combi plasma and over charge those bad boys

the re-roll doesnt seem to hook me though as you have to remain stationary, transports would have been awesome to have with that though.

The LD test gimmick is great though, makes them hold down really well id guess. Maybe I will just build a few and get Cyphers new model just to display until they get their own book. (I am still rocking the old pewter cypher painted like marvels Dr Doom lol)

Yeah there is that, they can always swing either way with their alliance.

Being cheaper than Chosen is probably their best asset but is somewhat offset by Cypher who is very, very cheap and not a bad shot at all. A shooty unit of Fallen with Cypher could be a great Patrol detachment, either being a rock on an objective, being a back / midfield deep strike countermeasure, or even moving up the side of the board while your main force is focused by your opponent.

So hate to revive a old thread kinda but didn't want to start a new thread.

My new question, for those with the astartes index and/or the chaos index is:

Is there any sort of rule that prevents fallen from being in the same army as dark angels?!? Almost heresy I know but I feel it could be fluffy done if you said the entire force was from pre heresy times and so naturally they would use dark angel tactics (yeah deathwing and ravenwing were later but just go with me on this lol)

I know they wouldn't buff each other but damn, that would be fun to play and would drive some folks bonkers haha

I was looking at Cypher and his Mysterious Protection rule seems really good. On a 2+ he doesn't count for VP purposes when slain. So make him your warlord and there is a good chance you will never give up slay the warlord. That seems really powerful.
