im thinking of using a matte spray over the miniatures but i want to then gloss the carapace on all of them with gloss to give a beetle look. my paint scheme has a copper shell washed with agrax earth-shade . at some angles its brown others its copper.. and i want that to be much shiner.

the question is. can i matte spray the miniatures then btrush clear onto the carapaces and not have any weird discolorations?

You can indeed re-gloss after matte varnishing.

I usually do all my non-metallics first, then matte varnish, then do my metallics but don't varnish them. That way they stay nice and shiny.
