So I can't help but notice that Fusion guns and Wraithcannons are pretty much the same. S8 vs S10 isn't a huge deal in this edition. Even the times it matters, Assured Destruction evens it out by doing more damage per gun.
Obviously WG are more durable and better in melee (WG fists ftw) and can fall back and shoot. The reason you would take Dragon is that you can get 8 Dragons for the same cost as 5 WG.
Dragons are also much faster.
So, themed armies excluded, which is better? WG seem like less of a suicide unit that will get to shoot more than once, but Dragons will do more damage and get there faster.

I think dragons for a general list. Don't get me wrong, wraithguard are awesome but 8th really seems to reward committing and you have to commit to a wraith army due to cost. Fire dragons are better just to slot into a list. Two units of 5 in a serpent is a solid choice.

both seem solid, I like the durability of the wraithguard better though, and being able to fallback to shoot the dscythe into the unit that either they charged or charged them being amazing

A serious downside to the D-scythes is that you have to roll the D3 for the whole unit, not per model. Its mean there is a 1 in 3 chance of only getting 1 hit per model.
I would have much preferred it be D3 per model so that is averaged about 10 hits per unit of 5.
But at least you can advance an fire with them.
I'm still torn on Dragons vs WG and Wraithcannon vs D-scythe. The core of my army will still be bikes as it has always been, I just want a few units with punch.

I think that for pure anti-vehicle points efficiency you have to go with Fire Dragons over wraithcannon equipped wraithguard. The wraith are just too expensive.
However, D-scythe Wraithguard are super durable and super versatile. I don't think a direct comparison is easy to make when you're paying for a unit that is good at just about everything, so it just depends on the rest of your army.
Right now my theory-crafted army has one WS with two units of 5 Fire dragons in it, which is just a few points over a single unit of wraithcannon. I don't need the D-scythes because I have Dark Reapers for anti-M/ TEQ work.
I kind of wish my mental math was different... I love Wraithguard and Wraithguard models

While this method isn't as granular, at least if you roll a 1 you can reroll with a command point for the whole group.

Note that one advantage of the D-scythe's rule is that, if you're committed to using a CP to re-roll a result of 1 shot, the average number of shots the unit of 5 gets is 11.67. The expected value of using your re-roll once you roll a 1 is 5 wraithcannon shots, which is huge (this is almost 8 wounds against T8 3+). You only get 5 shots 1 time in 9.
