I posted a list the other day but I had messed up the points (as I did with this one). After fixing it (again) I decided to add another squad of Inceptors and get rid of the Ancient; as a very shooty army I don't think the extra attacks are going to be worth the points. This list is pretty heavy on some very expensive units, but hopefully they pull their weight:

HQ
Interrogator Chaplain on Bike -144
-Thunder Hammer
Librarian on Bike -133
-Force Sword

Elite
Ravenwing Apothecary -97

Fast Attack
Ravenwing Bike Squad -134
-Melta Gun x2
Ravenwing Bike Squad -134

Ravenwing Bike Squad -132
-Grav Gun x2
Ravenwing Bike Squad -132
-Grav Gun x2
Black Knights x10 -500
Inceptor Squad -225
Inceptor Squad -225
Darkshroud -138
-Heavy Bolter

Total -1994

I'm going to ruin your day....

You didn't pay the +2pts for the twin bolters on all your bikes.

Well, I was really looking forward to the Champion, but Apothecary it is.

If you're not bringing Sammeal, there's no reason not to play this army as White Scars or Ultramarines.

Except for Black Knights, which I have a lot of. I do agree it would be nice to have Sammael, but he's expensive both in points and for the model. I'll probably add him soon.

Sammael would be a welcome bonus, but not that vital to a RW list.

I would, however, rather take Sammael over an Inceptor squad.

And I'd switch up the Int Chaplain for another Darkshroud

Hmmm, looks like I have some new models to get a hold of!

Do note that this is a purely personal opinion on the build.

To provide the reasoning behind the changes:

Although the Inceptor squad does provide quite a shooting punch, Sammael isn't short on the shooty side of things and has the added bonus of a 6" re-roll to hit bubble which will be immensely useful by itself and will be even sillier if you want to attempt to abuse the RWBK talons, which will one make you much shootier.

The reason why I would remove the Chaplain and slap in another is pretty much the same as above - I find that expanding the Icon bubble and slapping in additional dakka it brings to the list (that again synergizes well with the new Sammael bubble) make up for the reduced melee punch.

It's basically trading melee capability for additional effectiveness in shooting.

I think you only need one Darkshroud. If you buy two kits, you could experiment with the plasma landspeeder. It might be OK now? Hard to know.

Also I hear that double heavy flamer land speeders have a big niche.

Makes sense. The list I was working on for 7th had much more assault capability which is why I have the Interrogator Chaplain, but the changes from 8th make going with a shooty RW much more sensible.

That would also be a good option to the second Darkshroud if only one bubble is needed. Sammael's rerolls do love them plasma weaponry!

I actually have two double heavy flamer speeders that I modeled up already. I took them off my list because I wanted to sub in the Inceptors, which I feel should be pretty good. In any case, at least I have some options to play around with.

Really, are you sure? It says he comes with a Plasma Cannon, but I'm not going to argue with him being cheaper.

Yes, see the top of the column where unique units are listed. It says "Points per model (Including wargear)".

Damn, I really need to read this stuff more carefully. Now what do I do with 21 extra points?
